Original Airdate: June 27, 1987 (taped June 2)
From Buffalo, New York; Your Hosts are Vince McMahon, Bruno Sammartino, and Jesse Ventura
Honky Tonk Man v David Stoudemire: The WWF Intercontinental title is not on the line here. After the introductions, but before the opening bell, Howard Finkel introduces Mr. T as the new ‘enforcer’ of the WWF, which I don’t think went anywhere. I honestly have no memory of Mr. T being in the promotion at all this far past WrestleMania 2. And then he just sort of leaves, not even sticking around to ‘enforce’ anything, even with known cheaters like Honky and Jimmy Hart out there. Honky with a (perfectly clean) swinging neckbreaker at 0:28. DUD
Craig DeGeorge catches up with Butch Reed and Slick
Koko B. Ware v Jose Estrada: Estrada is Bad News Brown’s doppelganger. Koko is not as impressed (perhaps since Bad News hadn’t come to the WWF yet), and jobs this guy around, as Don Muraco and Bob Orton split screen in. Koko with a brainbuster at 1:57. DUD
Gene Okerlund catches up with Jake Roberts
One Man Gang v Eric Cooper: Mr. T sits in on commentary here, as they continue trying to get over his new role that I don’t at all remember. So, good job, obviously. Gang with a 2nd rope elbowdrop at 2:31. DUD
Okerlund catches up with Tito Santana
Ted DiBiase vignette. Or, more accurately, Million Dollar Man vignette!
Six-Man Tag Team Match: Brutus Beefcake, Jacques Rougeau and Raymond Rougeau v Jimmy Jack Funk, Iron Mike Sharpe, and Johnny K-9: The New Dream Team, they split screen in to cut a promo on the babyfaces, as the faces put this away with a combo at 2:49. ¼*
Jake Roberts hosts the Snake Pit with the Heenan Family as guests, as they do a show of force to intimidate Ken Patera. That seems like overkill for Ken fucking Patera
Ken Patera v Frankie Lane: The Heenan Family show up in the aisle to observe, and even Andre the Giant makes an appearance, so clearly this is a big deal. Patera with a bearhug at 1:42. Patera looked energetic here. Afterwards, the Family advance on the ring, and put a beating on Ken, though Andre doesn’t join in, so clearly they’re not too worried. ¼*
Jesse Ventura stars in Predator
Demolition v Lanny Poffo and Jerry Allen: Poffo’s poems are no match for Demolition at 2:25. DUD
BUExperience: Pretty solid this week.
