Original Airdate: August 8, 1987 (taped July 15)
From Glens Falls, New York; Your Hosts are Vince McMahon, Bruno Sammartino, and Jesse Ventura
Jesse catches up with Jimmy Hart, who reveals that he’s out of the running for Bam Bam Bigelow
Six-Man Tag Team Match: Tito Santana, Junkyard Dog, and Hillbilly Jim v Don Muraco, Bob Orton, and Joe Mirto: They don’t wait for the bell here, and fists are flying! The dust settles on Jim and Joe, and Hillbilly knocks him around. Tags to Dog and Don, and JYD dominates with headbutts, until Muraco bails. Orton tries to help him back in, but Don doesn’t appreciate the comments along the way, and shoves him off. Tags to Santana and Orton, and Tito dominates for a minute, but telegraphs a backdrop, and gets clobbered. That allows Bob to try a tombstone (Muraco’s move), but Santana blocks, so Bob tags to Don. Muraco looks for a superplex (Orton’s move), but Bob objects, and Tito topples for the pin at 3:01. This wasn’t really a proper match, more just background for the Muraco and Orton stuff. Afterwards, Bob gets in his face, and it descends into a slugfest! Both guys go spilling out of the ring, and we have a big brawl. DUD
Craig DeGeorge is in the studio for Update, with a look at the Superstar Billy Graham/Butch Reed confrontation from last week
Demolition v Sivi Afi and Brady Boone: It’s interesting that Demolition have been around for a bit now, and they’re obviously stars, but they also haven’t actually had any notable interactions on TV. Meanwhile, Mr. Fuji split screens in here, to talk Bam Bam. Demolition with a combo at 2:41. DUD
Gene Okerlund catches up with Jim Brunzell, who is so ready for a shot at the tag title that his partner couldn’t even be bothered to show up
A look at Ted DiBiase paying a woman in the audience $100 to wipe the sweat off of his body. That’s $286 in 2025 dollars. Seems like a pretty good deal for her, to me. It’s not even like he’s some big, fat, hairy guy
George Steele v Dusty Wolfe: Speaking of big, fat, and hairy. Steele with the hammerlock at 1:49. DUD
Okerlund catches up with Bobby Heenan, to discuss real estate. And Harley Race
The Hart Foundation v The Young Stallions: The WWF Tag Team title is not on the line here, and Mr. T is hanging around to counteract any shenanigans from Danny Davis. The Foundation attack before the bell, and dust settles on Bret Hart and Jim Powers. Hart with a backbreaker, and he passes to Jim Neidhart, who drops Powers across the top rope. Neidhart with a turnbuckle smash, and he passes to Bret for a combo (which ends up being Demolition’s finisher). Hart with a suplex to set up a pointed elbowdrop, and he passes back to Neidhart for a bodyslam. Neidhart grabs a sleeper, but tags to Bert before he can really work it. Bret tries a cross corner whip, but Powers reverses, and manages to hot tag Paul Roma - Roseanne Barr the door! Roma throws the Foundation into one another to get rid of Neidhart, but an attempt to monkeyflip Bret is countered into a leveraged pin at 2:59. This was solid and fast paced, with the Foundation making good use of quick tags. Afterwards, Mr. T alerts the referee to the leveraged pin, and the idiot reverses the decision on his word. *
DeGeorge brings the Islanders out for a podium interview, who gloat about running Tom Zenk out of the promotion
Jake Roberts v Barry Horowitz: Jake’s got some fancy tights this week. Roberts with a DDT at 1:06. DUD
Brutus Beefcake eats WWF Ice Cream Bars. “I wonder if there is any hair in that ice cream,” wonders Ventura
One Man Gang v David Stoudimiere: Slick split screens in, still promising Bam Bam. Gang with a gourdbuster at 0:59. Afterwards, Gang continues the beating, and gives the referee a gourdbuster as well, when he speaks up. That draws some jobbers out to help, and they get killed as well. Where’s Mr. T when you actually need him? DUD
Okerlund catches up with WWF Intercontinental Champion Honky Tonk Man, who shows off that he made the cover of WWF Magazine
BUExperience: This was fine.
