WWF LiveWire (October 12, 1996)

Original Airdate: October 12, 1996

Your Hosts are Todd Pettengill and Sunny from the control center. Sunny isn’t ready to start the show this week, since she can’t decide on what to wear, so Todd offers to ‘go outside, and honk the car horn’

We get clips of Goldust/Sycho Sid from the previous Monday Night RAW

Someone faxes in, asking Sunny to strip. It’s signed ‘Hollywood Hulk Hogan’

Pete calls in, asking who has the better powerbomb: Sid or Vader. Is he looking for, like, a scientific answer?

Sid/Vader feud review video. Featuring powerbombs! For science!

Call the Superstar Line to hear Jim Ross uncensored. I’d call if it was Jim Ross reviewing Uncensored

Ahmed Johnson pays us a visit, and Todd grills him about when he’ll get back into the ring, and I assume Ahmed gives him an informative response, but who he fuck knows what this dude is saying

Lola calls in asking if Ahmed is looking for a good woman, and Johnson gets all shy. Lola notes that she’s 34, employed, and voluptuous

Shawn calls in, wondering how Ahmed stays in shape while on the shelf. Someone probably should have called to ask him that between his WWF run and WCW run

The PlayStation Slam of the Week is WWF Intercontinental Champion Marc Mero hitting a shooting star press on Leif Cassidy

Bob calls in and wants to know how much racism Ahmed has encountered. Bob clarifies that he’s also black. Johnson answers that, when you’re as big as him, you don’t encounter much

Faarooq calls in, but loses connection

Undertaker is in a cemetery, getting ready for the Buried Alive match with Mankind

Faarooq calls back in, mocking Ahmed’s recovery. Faarooq notes that people keep asking him how he could do that to another black man, but that he doesn’t care what color Ahmed is, because Johnson was in his way, and that’s all that mattered. Johnson reminds him that they both grew up in the streets, and so Faarooq should know that Ahmed won’t be able to let what happened slide, and that Faarooq will need to pay

Mankind, also in a cemetery, is getting ready for Undertaker. These guys need to join a gym, or something

Roger calls in, and he’s positive that Undertaker will win the Buried Alive match. His friend Mike says!

Mike calls in (no word on if it’s the same Mike that’s friends with Roger), and he’s pissed about the fake Razor Ramon and Diesel. Todd and Sunny actually try to defend it, noting that they’re ‘impressive athletes,’ and ‘better’ than the previous Razor and Diesel

Mark calls in, and he thinks Jim Ross is trying to take over the WWF, and will probably team up with Jim Cornette to make that happen. “Should he be fired?” asks Todd. “No, he’s doing a good job,” replies Mark. He likes Razor and Diesel, apparently

In Your House ad

Hall of Fame/Survivor Series ad

And now, for an update on the scandal that ROCKED the WWF, as we get reintroduced to Roadie - now going as Jesse James, the 'Real Double J.' Apparently, WWF Officials have been investigating Jarrett's performance at In Your House II for the last fifteen months. Really?! Also, why? That seems like a weird use of resources. Oh, and Jeff won't comment because he 'slithered away from the spotlight' after that night, so we're just pretending he didn't return in late '95, and do a brief feud with Ahmed Johnson, I guess. This whole thing is pretty (unintentionally) funny, as they do a whole postmortem on the performance and match at In Your House II in the style of Behind the Music - complete with Jesse saying things like 'but it was actually the beginning of the end' and 'and then it all came crashing down.' I guess I get what they're going for with all of this, but running a super serious, multi-part series on the 'scandal' no one even knew existed a few weeks ago is a bit much

Tim calls in, and he thinks Jesse James can wrestle, and can sing better than Jeff Jarrett. I’m glad he called, that was riveting

BUExperience: I love this show. Every week is spectacular.
