Original Airdate: July 14, 1989
Your Hosts are Jim Ross and Jim Cornette
Ricky Steamboat v Jack Victory: From Fayetteville North Carolina on July 4. Victory stalls, as the crowd rabidly chants for Steamboat. Steamboat gets control with an armbar, and throws some chops, so Jack goes to the eyes. He tries dumping Ricky over the top, but Steamboat skins the cat, and armdrags him back into an armbar. Steamboat with a slingshot sunset flip for two, but Jack cuts him off with a pair of clotheslines, and that turns the tide. Victory holds a chinlock, until Steamboat fights free, but Jack cuts off the comeback with a bodyslam. That allows Victory to dive off the middle, but he misses, and Ricky goes up with a flying bodypress at 9:30. ¾*
Gordon Solie is in the studio for Wrestling News Network, and he discusses the British Bulldogs breaking up in Calgary, as well as news from the AWA
The Skyscrapers v Randy Rose and Unknown: From Fayetteville on July 4. I can’t catch that second jobbers name, and there doesn’t appear to be a record of it anywhere. No matter, it’s a quick squash for the Skyscrapers here at 2:11. Sid Vicious in white gear is an odd look for him. DUD
Terry Funk hosts Funk’s Grill, with guests Great Muta and Gary Hart. It’s a mutual admiration society between Funk and Hart here, and this whole segment is great, and does a great job of getting Muta over as a dangerous guy
Cage Match: The Road Warriors v Jimmy Garvin and Terry Gordy: From Marietta Georgia on July 6. Garvin and Gordy are subbing for the Samoan Swat Team here, after their manager (Paul E. Dangerously) reveals that they missed their flight. Animal starts with Garvin, and you’d better believe that Jimmy is getting knocked around. Tag to Terry, and he manages to cross corner clothesline Animal. Gordy tries an avalanche, but Animal barrels out of the corner to block, and both guys tag. Hawk tees off on both heels, and Garvin takes a press-slam, before Gordy is able to nail the Road Warrior. That allows Jimmy to deliver a series of kneedrops, and he chokes Hawk down from there. The heels works Hawk over, until Animal catches the hot tag, and Roseanne Barr the door! The Warriors look to have things won, when the Swat Team show up, and break into the cage for the DQ at 8:17. Mostly fun, if a little basic. Afterwards, the heels deliver a major beatdown, with Hawk taking the brunt of it, while Animal is handcuffed to the ropes. ¾*
Backstage, Ross catches up with a fuming Animal, who is ready to murder the heels
BUExperience: A fun episode, with a great angle at the end.
