Original Airdate: April 27, 1990 (taped April 17)
From Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Your Hosts are Jim Ross and Gordon Solie
Bam Bam Bigelow v Paul Drake: Bigelow just kind of wrestles him into a pin at 1:15, not even hitting any of the big flashy moves. This was lazy. DUD
Gordon is in the studio for Wrestling News Network, and Sting is going to be at Capital Combat, and so will RoboCop
They replay nearly the entire Rick Steiner/Butch Reed match from last week. Well, that was nice of them
Handicap Match: Mark Callous v Bob Cook and Pat Rose: Crazy seeing Callous doing leapfrogs and fast criss crosses here, when he’d spend the next six years stalking around the ring. And getting crazy over doing it! Callous finishes Rose at 1:01. DUD
Jim Cornette hosts the Louisville Slugger with guests the Fabulous Freebirds, who accuse the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express of being ‘dirty little immigrants’
Scott Steiner v Ron Simmons: Ron throws a knee, but misses a clothesline, and Scott pops off a dropkick. A clothesline sends Ron to the outside, where Rick and Butch Reed nearly get involved, before things settle down. Back in, Ron tries to power him, but Scott has plenty of strength to match, and tiger bombs him. Simmons bails to regroup, but gets worked over some more once getting in. Simmons finally dodges a charge from Scott that sends Steiner to the outside, and that turns the tide. Simmons with a bodyslam on the floor, and a vertical suplex gets him a two count on the way in. Ron with a spinebuster for two, and a jumping shoulderblock finds its mark. Ron with a three-point stance, but a second one misses, and Ron goes flying out of the ring. Scott follows, but gets reversed into the guardrail, and Simmons hammers him back into the ring. Ron gets a chinlock on, so Scott cradles for two, but Ron cuts him off with a bodyslam. He goes to the middle for a legdrop, but Scott rolls out of the way, and goes after the leg. A dropkick misses, however, and Simmons dumps him to the outside, but Rick helps his brother back to the apron. Reed dumps him right back off, but Scott fights for a slingshot sunset flip for two. Simmons cuts him off with abuse in the corner, but a charge hits a boot, and Steiner belly-to-belly suplexes him. Scott with a few clotheslines, but Reed trips him up to prevent a finisher. That draws Rick over to brawl, and the referee ends up throwing it out at 15:50. There was a lot of posturing in the early going, but it got better once it settled into a groove. * ¼
Brian Pillman and Tom Zenk are the Wrestlers of the Week
BUExperience: This was not the best episode, and felt like a retread of last week (especially with an almost complete replay of a match from last week).
