Original Airdate: June 8, 1990 (taped May 21)
Your Host is Jim Ross from the studio
Cactus Jack v Doug Furnas: From Montgomery Alabama on May 21. Ross pronounces it ‘fur-ness,’ which is odd. A criss cross allows Furnas a backdrop, and he clotheslines Jack out of the ring. Inside, Furnas grabs a wristlock, and wrestles it to the mat into a fujiwara armbar. Jack fights to a vertical base, and manages to unload in the corner, before popping Furnas with a clothesline. Jack with a backelbow for two, so Furnas tries a backslide for two. Furnas with a hiptoss, and a powerslam follows. Furnas with a (well executed) dropkick for the pin at 3:37. This was extremely basic and heatless. ½*
Clips of the Road Warriors against Arn Anderson and Barry Windham on World Championship Wrestling
Gordon Solie is in the studio with Wrestling News Network. First piece of news: Woman has been suspended for her actions at Capital Combat. In other news, lots of new arrivals, including: Junkyard Dog, Paul Orndorff, and Stan Hansen
The Fabulous Freebirds v Johnny Ace and Paul Drake: Montgomery Alabama on May 21. Who would have ever guessed that two of these guys would end up becoming power players in modern WWE? Michael Hayes with a DDT on Drake at 9:10. DUD
Ross catches up with Ole Anderson, who stumps for the Horsemen in their various matches at the Clash of the Champions
NWA United States Tag Team Title Match: The Midnight Express v Brian Pillman and Tom Zenk: Montgomery Alabama on May 21. Pillman schoolboys Bobby Eaton for two right away, so the Express bail, flustered. The dust settles on Stan Lane and Tom, and Zenk dominates, as they posture. Tags all around, and Pillman outmoves him. A victory roll into a headscissors looks for a submission, but Bobby is in the ropes right away. Tag to Lane, and they try to double team, but Pillman is too quick for them, and Stan ends up on the outside. Tag back to Bobby, but Pillman armdrags him into an armbar. Eaton decks him, but Pillman blocks a suplex. Brian tries another victory roll, but this time Eaton counters with an electric chair, and Bobby turnbuckle smashes him from there. Back to Lane with a pair of swinging neckbreakers, as the champs take control, cutting the ring in half. Pillman manages the hot tag to Zenk, and Roseanne Barr the door! A distraction from Jim Cornette takes Pillman out of the equation, and Tom falls prey to a double team at 9:14. This was okay, but nothing special. * ¼
Ross catches up with Sting, and his new pals: Junkyard Dog and Paul Orndorff. JYD promises to be a ‘black cowboy’ who will ‘ride’ Ric Flair. I worry
