ECW Eastern Championship Wrestling (August 10, 1993)

Original Airdate: August 10, 1993

From Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Your Host is Jay Sulli in the studio, and it’s a clip show! Wouldn’t be 90s television without a clip show

We start with Jay running down the card for UltraClash I. Kind of insane that they’d actually make a point of adding the ‘one,’ as if it was a certainty that this promotion would even continue to exist long enough to make it to a ‘two.’ And what’s crazier is that they did continue to exist for nearly a decade after this, but they only ran one other UltraClash, and it wasn’t until 1998. And then they didn’t even bother to call that one UltraClash II

Jay reads from Wrestling Enquirer to try and get the scoops on the promotion, but Eddie Gilbert interrupts to talk about Rick Steiner. Also, it’s Hot Stuff International, not the Dangerous Alliance, thank you

We take a look back at the May 4 1993 episode, when Paul E. Dangerously made his ECW debut by bashing Glen Osbourne with his phone to allow Eddie Gilbert a pin, ahead of forming the Dangerous Alliance (or Hot Stuff International, depending on who you ask)

Highlights of Jimmy Snuka winning the ECW Television title on the April 19 episode

Highlights of Don Muraco winning the ECW World title on the June 1 episode

Back in the studio, Gilbert disowns Dark Patriot, and notes that he only tolerated him so long as a favor to Dangerously

Clips of Road Warrior Hawk challenging Snuka for the TV title, ending in Paul running in for the DQ, and then the rest of the gang attacking Hawk, until Sandman chases them off

Clips of the Suicide Blonds going over Osbourne and Tommy Cairo while defending their ECW Tag Team title, followed by the Super Destroyers showing up to issue a challenge

Clips of Tod Gordon’s July 26 press conference in which he announced that a tournament will be held over the tag title

Clips of the weird relationship between Salvatore Bellomo and the Destroyers, and how that led to them teaming against the Blonds

Back in the studio, Gilbert presents Sulli with a t-shirt. Let’s hope it’s a parting gift for this doof

Clips of Cairo winning the ECW Philadelphia State title in a battle royal on the June 8 episode

In the studio, Gilbert continues to annoy puffy Don Draper

Clips of Rockin’ Rebel blinding Miss Peaches with a jar of paint during a Sandman/Ivan Koloff match

More clips from Gordon’s endless press conference

Clips of the Terry Funk/Gilbert Texas Chain match from Super Summer Sizzler Spectacular

More clips from Gordon’s press conference, since apparently having to sit through all three hours of it before wasn’t enough

Back in the studio, Sulli runs down the UltraClash card to end on a hard-sell note

BUExperience: Wait, weren’t we promised matches from a fresh set of tapings at the end of last week’s show?

I guess this might have been beneficial if you were a new fan, but this was a ridiculously boring clip show if you were already current.
