Original Airdate: November 23, 1993
Your Host is Joey Styles from a local Philadelphia high school
Backstage, Public Enemy attack Badd Company with tire irons, as Matty in the House frantically dials 911. Presenting the clip in complete silence other than Matty’s frantic 911 call was a great creative choice
The police arrive and arrest Public Enemy, and we get a ‘news report’ of a ‘police conference’ which, based on the giant map behind the cop, was filmed in a classroom of whatever school they’re taping from
Kevin Sullivan v Keith Scherer: From Philadelphia Pennsylvania on November 12 1993. Sullivan attacks before the bell, and wastes no time throwing chairs at his head. I know this isn’t the WWF, but man, these venues are ridiculously dingy. Though, to be fair, some of the places the actual WWF was running weren’t that much fancier, they just did a better job of dressing them up. Sullivan with a double stomp at 1:04. Awkward moment after the bell, as Woman is trying to soothe Sullivan, and Styles notes that it’s dangerous, and that “one day, he may turn around and snap her neck.” ¼*
Angel is black and blue and fuming about Sherri Martel hitting her with a chair at November to Remember
Jimmy Snuka wants to know what we’re ‘going to do about it.’ I assume that was directed at the cops there for Public Enemy. In which case, the answer is likely ‘not much’
Sandman and JT Smith v Tony Stetson and Johnny Hotbody: Also from Philly on November 12. Sandman with a bodyslam on Tony for two to start, and a clothesline gets him another two count, so Stetson bails. Tony manages a takedown on the way back in, and he works a leglock, before tagging to Hotbody to dive off the top onto the leg. Hotbody with a leglock of his own, and they cut the ring in half. Sandman slips away long enough for the tag to Smith… who immediately gets his own leg clipped, and the heels get to cutting the ring in half on him instead. Couldn’t they at least work different parts for the individual heat segments? It’s not like either guy has a big enough moveset to make two leg focused heat segments interesting. Tony misses a flying legdrop to allow the hot tag to Sandman, and Roseanne Barr the door! Sandman looks for a rollup on Hotbody, but Hunter Q Robbins III takes a cheap shot with his cane, and Hotbody scores the pin at 7:17. Afterwards, Peaches runs in to attack Robbins, but gets slammed before the babyfaces can save. *
Mr. Hughes v Kyle Scherer: From the same taping in Philly on November 12. Kyle is supposedly the ‘twin brother’ of Keith Scherer from the opener, but are we really sure he isn’t just a double dipper? Hughes with a scrapbuster at 2:34. I have no idea how Hughes ever even got a look in the WWF during this period. It’s no wonder he never lasted long during any of his runs. DUD
ECW Hotline ad, and apparently you can bring ECW to your school! Yep, that sounds like a really safe and productive venture
Matty in the House hypes a fan vote to pick the main event for Holiday Hell. And you can pick anyone on the roster! Assuming they don’t bail on the promotion before then. You know
Tommy Cairo v Chris Michaels: From Philly on November 12. Jason joins on guest commentary for this one. Cairo dominates early on, and a vertical suplex gets him two. Hiptoss and a dropkick follow, but Chris comes back with a backdrop, followed by a bodyslam. Pair of elbowdrops get Michaels two, but Cairo hooks a cradle for two, and uses a waistlock takedown into another cradle for one. Clothesline, but Michaels reverses, and delivers a standing dropkick. Backelbow follows, and a cross corner version connects as well. Legdrop gets Chris two, and a running powerslam is worth two. Clothesline, but Cairo ducks, and comes off the ropes with a jumping version. That allows Tommy a bodyslam to set up a pair of elbowdrops, but a third misses. That allows Chris a snapmare into a chinlock, but Cairo quickly fights free, and barrels into him with a shoulderblock. Thesz-press gets Cairo two, and a belly-to-belly suplex is followed by a German suplex at 4:42. This was a very solid and energetic babyface match. ** ¼
Jason tries to hang out with Joey at the high school, which drives Styles off the job… which allows Jason to get his posing in uninterrupted. Jason is a great character, and one of the best parts of this promotion. It’s a one note act, but he plays it perfectly
Meanwhile, in the back of the police cruiser, Public Enemy are looking forward to their ‘three squares a day’
BUExperience: This wasn’t a bad episode. It felt lively, and not as bogged down in stupid shit as a lot of the other ones from this period have.
