NWA (ECW) Eastern Championship Wrestling (August 2, 1994)

Original Airdate: August 2, 1994

Your Host is Joey Styles

Mr. Hughes takes us on a walk down Memory Lane, but sadly, he’s not such a great singer. No… wait… that’s Penny Lane. Got mixed up, since he gave us the nickel tour of his ECW run thus far. Nickel… penny… it stands to reason. Anyway, Penny Lane is a great song, so we’re off to a good start this week

Axl Rotten and Ian Rotten v Dino Sendoff and Joel Hartgood: From Philadelphia Pennsylvania on July 15. Joined in progress with Bad Breed hitting a doomsday device at 0:25 shown. Okay then.

ECW Television Title Match: Mikey Whipwreck v Stevie Richards: From Montgomeryville Pennsylvania on July 22. Posturing to start, and Whipwreck dropkicks him out of the ring. I still can’t get over the Studio 54 ring mat, what was up with that? Biggest mystery in wrestling. Inside, Stevie wins a criss cross, and lands a jumping backelbow, then a legdrop for two. Richards with a vertical suplex, but he pulls Whipwreck up at two, and elects to use a snapmare into a chinlock instead. I’m starting to understand his career path a lot better now. A criss cross allows Mikey to hit a hangman clothesline, and he goes to a chinlock of his own. Richards escapes, and throws a superkick, and is that a rock climbing wall in the background?! This set is getting more interesting by the moment. Richards tries a dive, but gets knocked into the guardrail instead, though he beats the count. Stevie hits Mikey with a powerbomb before cross corner whipping him a few times, but he goes to the well once too often, and eats a kick. That allows Whipwreck a flying bodypress, but Jason attacks to prevent the pin at 5:29. ½*

Backstage, Jason thinks Jimmy Snuka is a joke, and Tazmaniac is joke jr

The Pitbulls v Dan Evans and Bruno Sassi: From Philly on July 15. The Pitbulls finish these kids with their powerbomb combo at 8:25. ¼*

Backstage, Jason also thinks Mikey Whipwreck is a joke? Joke the third?

Backstage, Paul E. Dangerously hypes Sabu taking on 2 Cold Scorpio at Hardcore Heaven. As only he can

BUExperience: I mean, there’s a thirteen minutes Mr. Hughes promo at the top of the show, what could go wrong?
