WWF Champion Rock is out, and running his mouth about Stone Cold. But Steve Austin is a foregone conclusion for him, and he wants to focus on Paul Wight, who he thinks has been double crossing the Corporation

Backstage, Paul Wight arrives, and Howard Finkel immediately rats on Rock, telling Paul that the champ was talking shit

The Acolytes v Public Enemy: They slug it out right away, and it spills to the outside in short order. The Acolytes are kicking the absolute shit out of them with weapons here, apparently upset that Enemy had arrived late to the show, and had refused some planned spots for this match. Or, some other bullshit reason. So, they just keep killing them, until it’s finally a double countout at 1:56. The Acolytes keep unloading after the bell, since they’re such professionals. ¼*

Backstage, Wight is going door to door, looking for Rock

Backstage, Finkel interrupts Rock’s phone call to let the champ know that Paul is mad and looking for him

Jeff Jarrett v Jesse James: Jeff attacks before the bell, and Taylor loudly complains, since Jesse’s opening spiel is “the best part.” Hey, he’s not wrong. Jeff with a single-arm DDT and a straddling ropechoke, followed by a dropkick. James fights him off and hits a straddling ropechoke of his own, so Owen Hart comes in. He looks to dive, but Blue Blazer cuts him off, and Blazer drops Jarrett with a sitout spinebuster - allowing James the pin at 2:02. Afterwards, Blazer unmasks as D-lo Brown. DUD

Backstage, WWF Intercontinental Champion Val Venis, Billy Gunn, Ken Shamrock, and Goldust all have heated words

Backstage, Rock goes looking for Wight. First stop: the women’s bathroom

Val Venis and Billy Gunn v Goldust and Ken Shamrock: Shamrock beats up Goldust before the bell, and throws him in to the wolves. I don’t think he quite understand the finer points, that Ken. Meanwhile, Ryan Shamrock shows up, triggering a brawl on the outside between Gunn and Ken, as Goldust superplexes Venis for the pin at 0:54. Afterwards, Goldust runs off with Ryan, with Ken chasing, as Val and Billy get into a fight in the ring. DUD

Backstage, Michael Cole attempts to get a word with Billy Gunn, but the brawl with Venis, Shamrock, and Goldust carries over

Tiger Ali Singh is out, offering $500 to anyone who will come into the ring, and blow their nose… on the American flag. And, he thinks the best choice is Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle, who is in the crowd as a spectator. Kurt comes in, and gets a good reaction, since he’s a local hero. Kurt refuses to do the actual blowing, so Tiger ups it to $2,000. No dice, so Tiger goes to $5,000, and Kurt agrees. Angle pretends to do it, but then stops short, and blows his nose on the Indian flag instead. Classy. Tiger responds by attacking him with the flagpole, but Kurt recovers, and throws him around with a few suplexes, until Singh runs away

Big Boss Man v Al Snow: Boss Man shoves him around, and a corner clothesline allows Boss Man to corner him for some abuse. Boss Man with a cross corner whip to rattle the ring, so Snow tries some clotheslines, but his bad arm doesn’t allow him to get much out of them. Snow with some trapping headbutts, but a swing with Head misses, and Boss Man delivers the scrapbuster at 1:52. The Acolytes hit the ring to go after Boss Man after the bell, but Boss Man manages to hold them off and get away. DUD

Backstage, Steve Austin arrives. Oh no, I hope no one tells the Acolytes

Paul Wight is out, dressed like Kevin Smith. He’s sick of looking for Rock, and Rock is sick of looking for him, so here they both are. They have words, but Austin’s music starts playing, and they decide to unite. Paul goes up the ramp to grab Steve, but Austin pops out of the crowd, and hits Rock with a stunner before Wight knows what’s even going on

BUExperience: Heat isn’t ‘can’t miss TV,’ but this one has the infamous Public Enemy segment and Kurt Angle’s debut. Winner!
