WWF Mania (October 16, 1993)

Original Airdate: October 16, 1993

Your Hosts are Todd Pettengill from the studio. Randy Savage is absent this week, as he’s preparing for his summit with Crush

Irwin R. Schyster v Kevin Krueger: From the October 10 episode of Wrestling Challenge (taped September 1) in Saginaw Michigan. Irwin with the jumping clothesline at 3:03. This was ice cold. IRS really had nothing to offer as a character after Money Inc was done, but I get that he had enough cachet to keep around as JTTS. DUD

Men on a Mission v Damien Demento and Anthony Green: From the October 9 Superstars (taped August 31) in Grand Rapids Michigan. The announcers debating what Columbus Day means to them provides some interesting moments here, particularly when Lawler tells the other two that if the country had ‘better immigration laws’ they wouldn’t be here to all. I’m kind of surprised to see Demento in a full-on jobber role, but this was actually his last televised appearance, so I guess it makes sense. He’d already worked his last house show match back in September, so this was his last appearance of any sort in the promotion. MOM with a rocket launcher on Green at 3:24. ¼*

Adam Bomb v Russ Greenberg: Snaro! From Monday Night RAW on October 11 (taped September 27) in New Haven Connecticut. Bomb now has Harvey Wippleman as his manager - a much better fit than goofy Johnny Polo, who was much better suited to the Quebecers. I like how the big selling point for Bomb is not, 'oh, here's this crazy big motherfucker who can hit flying clotheslines,' but rather, 'he has yellow eyes!!!' Bomb destroys Greenberg in the corner, and a standing dropkick knocks Russ to the outside. Adam drags him back in for a slingshot shoulderblock, and side suplexes him before hitting the Atom Smasher at 2:30. Just a quickie squash, but he HAS YELLOW EYES!!! ¼*

Undertaker recommends that you don’t drink and drive

Marty Jannetty v Jack Reno: Also from the October 10 Challenge. Marty with the rocker dropper at 2:54. DUD

Gorilla Monsoon is in the control center with the look at the beef between Bret Hart and Jerry Lawler. It’s a shame they never got to the climax of the whole thing at Survivor Series, what a great feud

Bastion Booger v Sonny Rogers: Also from the October 10 Challenge. Booger with a sitdown splash at 2:25. DUD

Mr. Perfect v Red Tyler: From the October 9 episode of Superstars. Vince keeps putting over how well Savage did in the Intercontinental title battle royal, which feels like kind of a dick move considering how badly Macho wanted to work. Perfectplex finishes at 2:38. DUD

From RAW, Vince McMahon brings Ludvig Borga out for an in-ring interview. He trashes America (topics: illiteracy, bad smelling people - maybe Borga should just stop hanging out with wrestling fans?), and then turns his attention to Lex Luger - who apparently looks like a garbage truck driver. What is his obsession with garbage and garbage trucks? This is, like, the third interview/vignette I've seen with him where his big focus was calling Lex Luger a garbage truck driver. I don't know what the connotation is in Finland, but here in the US, having a job in waste management generally means you're mobbed up. Anyway, Luger ends up coming out to clarify the status of his trash collection employment, and he tells Borga to 'love America, or leave it.' Then, he takes his shirt off, but apparently that means something else in Finland, too, because Borga's is out of there

BUExperience: Business as usual episode.
