WWF Monday Night RAW (February 6, 1995)

Original Airdate: February 6, 1995 (Taped January 23)

From Palmetto, Florida; Your Hosts are Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels

Opening Six-Man Tag Team Match: Lex Luger and Men on a Mission v Tatanka, IRS, and King Kong Bundy: Of note: the guy with the hilarious dumbfounded look during the Over the Top match finish last week is Luger's flag bearer this week. Continuity! Mabel starts with Bundy, and they pick up right where they left of sucking last week. Bundy tries for the Avalanche within the first minute, but Mabel blocks with a forearm for two, and 'hits' an 'enzuigiri' for two. Tag to Mo for a flying axehandle, but he stupidly tries to bodyslam Bundy, and gets swatted down. IRS tags in to wallop him with a backelbow and an elbowdrop for two, but Mo manages a backdrop and a dropkick. Hey, he may suck, but give the guy credit, he was trying. Bodyslam gets two, but IRS escapes an armbar to tag Tatanka. He goes to work on Mo, but gets cocky and turns his back to showboat, allowing the tag back to Mabel for a shoulderblock. Really shitty sequence follows, as Tatanka 'ducks' a backelbow from Mabel, but the execution is so poor that a ninety five year old in the cheap seats could easily tell that Mabel missed on purpose. Tag to Luger to 'give the crowd what they really want,' but that feud has gone colder than an Eskimos left tit. Mo ends up getting back in and falls into a 'heat' segment, but again, Eskimo tit. Even Vince and Shawn are openly slagging both teams. The tit segment drags on for a long time until Bundy misses the Avalanche and Luger gets the tag. Slam for Bundy to trigger a six-way brawl, and Tatanka drops Lex with a DDT in the chaos for King Kong to pin at 13:00. I guess that was to set up the final blowoff on the WrestleMania buildup show the next month, but like I said, that feud was deader than dead. When even ten year old super marks like me don't care anymore, you're done. ¾*

Man Mountain Rock vignette

Bobby Cupo, Lawrence Taylor's agent, offers a prepared statement that Taylor will not acknowledge Bam Bam Bigelow's challenge to a match, and that legal counsel may be brought in if he does not drop the issue. Fuck him. Ari Gold or GTFO

Man Mountain Rock v Charlie Hunter: This is Rock's debut, complete with electric guitar playing. And holy shit was this stupid. Again, I was a ten year old super mark who ate everything Vince shoveled onto my plate with a smile on my face in 1995, and even I couldn't get into Rock beyond the standard 'he's a good guy so I guess I like him' way. The crowd is just totally not into this guy, either, and his wardrobe choices aren't helping his cause. What, was Stephanie a camp counselor that year, and feeding Vince info on that weird mid-90s tie-dye comeback, or something? Forward-falling suplex finishes at 3:00. DUD

This past weekend on the Action Zone, Diesel defeated Owen Hart, while Shawn Michaels observed from the aisle

Vince conducts a pre-recorded sit-down interview with Diesel to basically give him a verbal blowjob for five minutes. They were really getting desperate in trying to get Diesel over in this role, and it shows, as seemingly every little thing he does is suddenly noteworthy. Like, 'WWF Champion Diesel helped a kid tie his shoe at the mall over the weekend!' type stuff

Mantaur v Leroy Howard: Shawn has a field day making fun of Mantaur on commentary, and frankly, who could blame him. You know it's bad when even the other heels are openly insulting you. His response to Vince suggesting that Mantaur may be a candidate for his bodyguard is worth the price of admission for this show. Belly-to-belly suplex finishes at 3:45. DUD

In High Gear Tour promo

Razor Ramon v Frankie Lancaster: Of course, after spending literally the entire show openly making fun of all the shitty gimmicks, Shawn puts Ramon over, despite him being a face. Vince, meanwhile, hypes TekWar. Well, good for Shattner, I guess. Razors Edge finishes at 3:45. ¼*

Henry Godwinn v Bill Weaver: Seriously? Another squash? I know this is the third week of this taping cycle, but COME ON! They've also stopped highlighting the 'O' middle initial, which is like telling a 'knock-knock' joke and stopping after 'who's there.' Slop Drop finishes at 2:20. DUD

BUExperience: Terrible episode, with a bunch of lame gimmicks, no angle advancement, and a boring feature match
