Kevin Sullivan hangs out on a lifeguard tower, cutting a promo on Tommy Cairo
Mr. Hughes reminds us of his ‘accomplishments’ (my quotations) in WCW and the WWF, and now he’s here in ECW, since he wanted some ‘real competition’ (both of our quotations)
The Bad Breed v Chad Austin and Don E Allen: Axl Rotten starts with Allen, and knocks him around. Bodyslam leads to a tag to Ian Rotten, and Ian dragon suplexes him. Tag to Austin, who tries a dive, but gets caught, and dumped over the top following an oklahoma stampede. Ian dives after him from the apron, and he passes to Axl on the way back inside. Axl with a bodyslam to set up a 2nd rope spinheel kick for two, and Ian double-arm DDTs him to set up a dive from Axl. Rocket launcher finishes Chad at 3:28. This was an energetic squash. ½*
Jason tries talking to various wrestlers, but gets rebuffed because he doesn’t have any money. He’s pretty funny in this role, actually
Rockin' Rebel v Chris Michaels: Joined in progress with Rebel clotheslining him on the outside, and he delivers a DDT on the way back in, but pulls Michaels up at two. Rebel with a piledriver for two - Rebel again breaking his own cover. Rebel brings a chair in, which the referee objects to, so Rebel takes him out. He prepares to clobber Michaels, but Salvatore Bellomo runs out of the crowd to make the save. Chris wins by DQ at 2:00 shown. I won’t rate this one, but it certainly wasn’t good.
Paul E Dangerously is in the dressing room, cutting a promo on the city of Philadelphia. Talk about biting the hand
Tod Gordon announces that Rockin’ Rebel will face Sal Bellomo in a non-sanctioned match at November to Remember
Badd Company v Don Muraco and Jimmy Snuka: Public Enemy attack Paul Diamond and Pat Tanaka with chairs as Company make their entrance, and the match is awarded to Muraco and Snuka via forfeit. That draws Bad Breed out to brawl with Enemy, as Muraco and Snuka make a big show over how ‘upset’ they are at not getting the match
Matty in the House doesn’t care if this show offends you. It doesn’t. It does bore me, though, which is worse
Public Enemy are in the parking lot, gloating over what they did to Badd Company
Joey presents still photos of an altercation between Sherri Martel and Madusa that occurred at a convention somewhere. Still photos, wow, try to contain yourself
ECW Title Match: Shane Douglas v JT Smith: Shane tries for the takedown early on, but Smith manages to avoid it for a bit. Finally, Douglas manages to get him down in a half-crab, but JT makes the ropes. Douglas stays on the leg in the corner, but Smith fights him off with headbutts. Bodyslam, but the leg gives out, and Douglas topples him for two. Shane with a snapmare to set up an elbowdrop, and he works a leglock from there. He shifts to a toehold, then to a figure four, but Smith refuses to submit, so ECW Television Champion Terry Funk throws in a towel on his behalf at 3:40. This was too short for the story they were trying to tell. Afterwards, Funk slaps Smith around to continue his heel turn from last week. ¼*
BUExperience: A very clip heavy episode this week.
