Original Airdate: June 22, 1990
Your Host is Jim Ross from the studio
Ric Flair and Arn Anderson v Mike Rotunda and Jerry Price: From World Wide Wrestling on June 16 (taped June 4) in Anderson South Carolina. Poor Mike. He gets a lot of fire here, but with a partner like Jerry Price, you know exactly where this is going. And, indeed, Price eats a DDT from Arn at 2:51. Afterwards, the Horsemen continue beating on Price, but Sting, Paul Orndorff, and Junkyard Dog make the save. ¼*
Gordon Solie is in the studio with Wrestling News Network, giving us a look at Lex Luger taking on the Horsemen at the Clash of the Champions
Lex Luger v Barry Horowitz: Also from the June 16 World Wide, with the NWA United States title not on the line. It’s so weird for me to see Barry anywhere other than the WWF. Lex with the torture rack at 1:58. The Horsemen are out right away, but Sting, Orndorff, and Junkyard Dog are right there to cut them off before they can touch Luger. DUD
Sting is pumped up about getting back in the ring at the Great American Bash, where he’s going to walk the aisle, and take the NWA World title from Ric Flair
Mark Callous v Dennis Fowler: From Pro on June 16 (taped June 4) in Anderson South Carolina. Mark casually dominates this, but keeps pulling the guy up at two, so the referee finally just stops the match at 2:03. But then Mark just gives Fowler the heart punch afterwards anyway. DUD
Jim Cornette is in the studio for the Louisville Slugger, with the Horsemen as his guests. Doing a talkshow segment in the studio, without an audience, feels like it defeats the purpose
The Fabulous Freebirds v The Southern Boys: From the June 16 World Wide. This is being billed as a rematch from the Clash, though it was taped before that show aired. Michael Hayes starts with Tracy Smothers, and Michael tries cornering him, but Smothers slips away. A bodyslam gets Smothers two, and he grabs an armbar, but Hayes fights off on the ropes. A criss cross allows the blind tag to Steve Armstrong, and the Boys knock Hayes out of the ring with a double team (that didn’t actually make contact). That draws Jimmy Garvin in, but the Boys clean house. The dust settles on Garvin and Armstrong, and Steve gets a headlock on. Tag out to Hayes, so Steve clotheslines him for two, and grounds Michael in an armbar. Hayes forces a criss cross, allowing Garvin a cheap shot from the apron, and the heels take control, working Armstrong over. Hayes tries a DDT, but gets backdropped, and Smothers catches the hot tag! He runs wild, and Roseanne Barr the door! The Boys dominate, but Jim Cornette distracts them, and Garvin rolls Smothers up at 5:10. You’d think Cornette would be all about two guys parading around in the Confederate flag, but, I guess, both teams are equally guilty of that, so how is a man to choose? *
NWA World Tag Team Champions Doom are sick of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express’ begging, and have signed a title match for the Bash
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express v The MOD Squad: From the June 16 World Wide. Ross spends more time hyping the hotline than calling the action here. Ricky Morton with a bodypress at 6:22. This was long. DUD
BUExperience: I remain disappointed that this has become a studio show.
