WWF Wrestling Challenge (February 15, 1987)

Original Airdate: February 15, 1987 (taped January 27)

From Fort Myers, Florida; Your Hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan

Six-Man Tag Team Match: Greg Valentine, Brutus Beefcake, and Johnny Valiant v Hillbilly Jim, Jacques Rougeau, and Raymond Rougeau: Greg and Jim start, and Hillbilly delivers an atomic drop, as Heenan starts listing all of the potential excuses Hulk Hogan is going to use to get out of the Andre match. Tag to Ray, and he trades chops with the Hammer, in a winning effort. Over to Jacques, but he fails to cut the ring in half, and Beefcake catches a tag in. Jacques wins a criss cross with a backslide for two, so Greg tags back in, and puts the elbows to Jacques. A bodyslam follows, but Jacques blocks a cross corner whip. Jacques tries a 2nd rope bodypress, but Greg ducks, and Rougeau wipes out. Tag to Valiant, but he gets overconfident, and Jacques quickly hooks a cradle at 2:34. ¼*

Gene Okerlund is in the studio, hyping all the ‘goodies’ you can have if you join the WWF Fan Club

Craig DeGeorge catches up with Danny Davis, who was banned as a referee yesterday on Superstars, but has already signed a contract with Jimmy Hart, as a wrestler

Okerlund catches up with Paul Roma, who is big in Australia, apparently

Honky Tonk Man visits Memphis, where he shits on Elvis’ grave. Figuratively

Randy Savage v Jerry Allen: The WWF Intercontinental title is not at stake. The stupid jobber actually has the balls to attack the Macho Man before the bell, and Randy gets so pissed off that he murders the goof with the flying elbowdrop at 0:32 without even bothering to finish taking his entrance gear off. I love it! DUD

Randy Savage wonders if Ricky Steamboat identifies as a child, because Macho is going to treat him like one

Okerlund catches up with George Steele, who has a big bowl of Valentine’s candy ready for Miss Elizabeth

Heenan demonstrates how Junkyard Dog should bow to the king, Harley Race

Moondog Spot v Harley Race: Valiant is out to do commentary here, in Heenan’s place. Spot fights off the opening blitz, but misses a kneesmash in the corner, and Race quickly ends him with a fisherman suplex at 0:34. DUD

Billy Jack Haynes v Tiger Chung Lee: They have a crawl on the screen pushing WrestleMania III tickets, making me wish I could go back in time and dial that number. Hercules split screens in here, challenging Haynes to a match at WrestleMania. Meanwhile, Bobby notes that Hogan may have accepted the challenge from Andre, but he hasn’t signed the contract yet, so he’s still expecting excuses. Haynes with the full nelson at 2:52. DUD

The Killer Bees v Gladiator and Red Demon: Slick split screens in, promising that Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff will sting the Bees at WrestleMania. The Bees with a combo on Gladiator at 3:10. DUD

Okerlund catches up with WWF Tag Team Champions The Hart Foundation, who don’t understand why everyone thinks their title win was ‘controversial’

BUExperience: Solid stuff this week, especially with Heenan in hard sell mode for WrestleMania.
