Chair Shots and Miscarriages of Justice: WWE RAW-Smackdown Live! Draft 2016

CHAIR SHOTS AND MISCARRIAGES OF JUSTICE

WWE RAW-SMACKDOWN LIVE! DRAFT 2016
By: Double M

Well what the hell indeed, that’s right it’s a special unannounced edition coming to you courtesy of the Blamo Chair Company. Only way you know it’s a chair shot is if you hear BLAMO! Under the promise that this is a pandering-free zone, I give you the gift of the Raw-Smackdown Live Draft special edition. Read on maaaaaaaannnnnnn.

BEST DRAFT SEQUENCE: Smackdown Round 4 with the Miz and Baron Corbin. It’s easy to select RAW’s 1st round with Seth Rollins, Charlotte, and Finn Balor. RAW landed a current main eventer in Rollins, one of the leaders of the women’s movement in Charlotte, and possibly the brightest star out of NXT in Balor. But that’s the saaaawwwwwwwft way of doing things. I’ve ripped both these guys for varying reasons, deservedly so, however as heals both men can tell a story. Miz has been one of the best, and most consistent, on the mic and in ring holds his own well. He has emotion, and his gimmick gives him the flexibility to flip his lid for no good reason at all. He’s been a world champion which could set the stage is set for a solid feud with Dean Ambrose [hopefully for a title]. My beef with Baron Corbin has a very fixable solution: speed up. Watch his match at Money in the Bank near the end, it was scary how hard he landed his shots when he was rolling. Give me more of that and there’s no reason he can’t have the unpredictability level of a Stone Cold with the power like a Brock Lesnar, and an attitude like CM Punk.

THEY DRAFTED HIM HERE?!?!?!: Cesaro to RAW with the 28th pick Round 6. Gallows/Anderson, The Big Show, Sami Zayn, Natalya all taken before Cesaro. He’s a man who “let’s his actions speak for him”, and while that’s fine the lack of mic time probably is what dropped him despite the fans popularity. For my money the Engineer of the Upper Cut Train and the Head Usher of the Cesaro section has been a phenomenal in-ring performer in a variety of situations only to come up short. Apparently the draft was no different. Come on Mick give the Swiss Superman a shot!

BEST POST DRAFT REACTION: Enzo and Cass hands down. After chasing off Kevin Owens, Cass runs a laundry list of buffet items that RAW offered up after Smackdown “wouldn’t answer the door”. Much to the chagrin of Corey Graves who couldn’t hide under the desk low enough from each of Enzo’s “how ya doin?” and you can’t…. teach…. that.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT: “Don’t call it a comeback we been here for 3 hours!” Booker T

PARTING SHOTS:

-Sheamus is back on RAW. I’d say a mandatory haircut and an intro that doesn’t make us all blind from the spotlight bouncing off the albino warrior, but the GM is Mrs. Foley’s baby boy…..

-Interesting listening to the reactions from some of the superstars after they were drafted. It felt like watching the draftees from the NHL, NFL, NBA, or MLB. Eager anticipation and clear focus, well except for Enzo and Cass.

-Can there be a match between Zack Ryder and Charlotte where the loser can’t say “woo” anymore”?

-Waste not the time of Kane with your personal business, otherwise you’ll be treated to a chokeslam similar to the one given to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

-Chairshots poll of the week: Better reaction the crowd’s groan when The Big Show was drafted or Shane O’Mac’s “which way did he go? Which way did he go? He went to RAW” mocking of The Big Show. Phone lines are open now! Press 1 the crowd, 2 for Shane, 3 for IT DOESN’T MATTER WHICH WAS BETTER THEY BOTH WERE AWESOME!!!

-Lastly and most certainly least a special shout out to Heath Slater of the Social Outcasts for making it through the draft… without being drafted. Nevermind Mr. Longshot, Mr. Irrelevant? Forget about it. I wonder if he’ll have a trophy or tshirt he’ll have to carry around with him everywhere he goes.

Angry Rating Scale: 5
