WWF Superstars (July 11, 1992)

Original Airdate: July 11, 1992 (taped June 1)

From Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; Your Hosts are Vince McMahon and Mr. Perfect

The Legion of Doom v Barry Hardy and Kerry Davis: This one is actually from a completely different taping (in Glens Falls New York on June 29), and I have no idea why they're sticking it in here. I'm guessing they wanted an LOD match to show off Rocco, since obviously a hot angle like that needs to get its due. Dummy or not, it's the usual aggressive squash from these two, ending with a Doomsday Device on Davis at 1:58. ¼*

Mountie's been shocking people. Yeah, we know. That's been a thing for, like, a year. Move on

Shawn Michaels v Chico Martinez: It's mid-July, and they're still hyping up Shawn as a challenger for Bret's Intercontinental title. Surely the change to Wembley Stadium was a done deal by this point, no? How last minute was that deal. Shawn with the Teardrop Suplex at 1:30. DUD

Rick Martel continues to appropriate Tatanka's culture

Virgil is really mad at Papa Shango. I like how every week either Virgil or Tito Santana call out guys who never even bother acknowledging their existence, probably because no one gives a shit about Virgil or Tito Santana

WWF Champion Randy Savage tribute video. And not a particularly good or notable one

Undertaker v Bruce Mitchell: Mitchell looks like he stole Rick Rude's backup gear when Rick left the promotion. He's also really skinny, but hey, at least that should make for an easy payday for Undertaker. I'm sure it's much more comfortable to Tombstone some scrawny punk than the Kamala's and Berzerker's of the world. And, yep, Tombstone finishes at 1:29. And speaking of Berzerker, here he is to try and steal the urn, but Undertaker doesn't take too kindly to that, and tries to choke him out. That brings Mr. Fuji in with the cane, allowing Berzerker to throw a handful of salt into 'Taker's eyes... and then just walk away, without the urn. The heels would get better at stealing that thing later on, at least. DUD

Skinner is lucky he doesn't choke to death

WWF Intercontinental Champion Bret Hart is taking on all comers, and they're getting tougher and tougher. But he's not scared of Shawn Michaels, or his 'tramp.' I'm assuming he means Sherri, but I'm not suggesting that, because I AM scared of her, even thirteen years after she left this earth. I don't want nothing with no ghost Sherri

Tito Santana v Duane Gill: Tito looks so happy that an opponent is actually acknowledging him, aww. Clearly he's just a few wins away from the WWF Title now! Are we still in Hamilton for this one? It looks like another building again. El Paso finishes at 1:57. ¼*

Gene Okerlund brings Kamala and his entourage out for an interview, but they don't really have anything to hype, so Kamala just threatens Okerlund instead. Poor Virgil

Tatanka v Dublin Destroyer: Hey, it's Tatanka! I liked him enough when I started watching in 1994, but looking back now, he was really aimless and goofy, wasn't he? He spend literally all of 1992 chasing Rick Martel over some feathers. And it's one thing if it was a continually escalating series of offenses, but no. Martel steals the feathers, and, like, seven months later Tanaka finally wrestles him. And that's it! Anyway, End of the Trail finishes at 1:59. DUD

WBF BodyStars ad

Nailz v Rick Johnson: Kind of funny sticking Nailz out there right after a BodyStars ad. He attacks this Sting looking motherfucker with a choke before the bell, and then it's lots more choking to come. Hey, he found his thing, and he stuck with it. Sleeper finishes at 1:20. Much like the Tatanka/Martel feud, this was another simmering angle, eventually building to Nailz wrestling the real Sting at Slamboree '93. DUD

SummerSlam is coming to London! Okay so they did already make the move at this point, but I guess we're still working on a taping cycle from prior, so all the angles are still hyping stuff we never saw. Who knows, maybe Tatanka could have gotten those stupid feathers back months earlier, and become a big star because of it. But I don't really want to butterfly effect that theory, because a world where Tatanka becomes a big star is not a world I want to live in

Money Inc v Bobby Perez and Angel Vega: Money Inc are the WWF Tag Team Champions, but this is non-title. Clearly, they're ducking this team, and probably also racists, or something. Why not? They're rich white guys, clearly they must be racists. That's how it works now, right? Anyway, Million Dollar Dream finishes at 1:22. Some guy in the crowd holds up a Canadian hundred dollar bill in response to Money Inc, so I assume he's a Nikolai Volkoff fan. DUD

Razor Ramon is having a nice quiet dinner, when the stupid waiter tries to get him to pay the bill. Doesn't he know who this guy is? That's Razor Ramon! He's only said it, like, twelve times in the last thirty seconds. But, anyway, did the waiter think Razor was funny? We never find out

High Energy have done all of the drugs

Berzerker, I assume, was with High Energy while they were doing all of the drugs

BUExperience: This was a really nothing episode, especially because all of the stuff they were building towards didn’t actually happen once the SummerSlam card got shuffled around (or didn’t happen until much later, anyway).
