Hostile City Showdown ad
Kevin Sullivan v Keith Scherer: From Philadelphia Pennsylvania on May 13. Sullivan blitzes him, and finishes up with a double stomp at 1:59. Afterwards, Miss Peaches runs out with a kendo stick to try and attack Woman, but Sullivan steps in. That draws Tommy Cairo out, but as he’s busy beating up Sullivan, Sandman shows up to steal the kendo. He goes after Peaches, but she gets away, so Sandman just decides to smoke instead. DUD
Backstage, 2 Cold Scorpio is excited to be in ECW
Crash the Terminator v AJ Power: From Philadelphia Pennsylvania on May 13. Power is apparently Hunter Q Robbins III’s latest charge. I kind of forgot Robbins was still around. Power chokes Crash down early on, and works him over. Power tries a variety of arrogant covers that go nowhere for him, and a flying clothesline gets him two. Back up for a flying Thesz press for two, but a flying bodypress gets caught in a powerslam at 3:39. DUD
Sandman hype video
Sandman v Tazmaniac: From Philadelphia Pennsylvania on May 13. Slugfest to start, won by Tazmaniac, so Sandman bails. Tazmaniac chases (complete with legitimately tripping while and falling on his ass while exiting the ring), and he nails Sandman with a chair, before whipping him into the guardrail. Sandman grabs the chair to return fire, and he tries a suplex through a table, but Tazmaniac counters with a gourdbuster through it instead. Tazmaniac pulls off a leg from the table to choke Sandman with, and they go back inside, where Sandman manages to slug him down. Tazmaniac manages to hook a small package for two, and he adds a clothesline when Sandman pops up. Sandman kicks him down low to buy time, but not enough, as Tazmaniac lands a flying clothesline for two. Sandman slugs him down again, and he goes to the top, but Tazmaniac grabs him in a superplex at 6:33. This felt really amateurish, even by ECW standards. Afterwards, Pitbull runs in to attack Tazmaniac, laying him out. ½*
Salvatore Bellomo v Billy Firehawk: From Philadelphia Pennsylvania on May 13. Billy tries kick starting the match, but quickly gets swatted away, and splashed at 0:08. Hey, no complaints from me with a quick Bellomo match. That’s the way uh huh uh huh I like it. DUD
Mr. Hughes hype video
Cactus Jack reminds Sabu that he made his name in Philadelphia, and he’s coming home. Jack has the WCW World Tag Team title belt with him here
A look at the Public Enemy’s beef with the Funks
Public Enemy are out on the farm, trying to get in a Double Cross Ranch state of mind
ECW Television Title Match: Mikey Whipwreck v Mr. Hughes: From Philadelphia Pennsylvania on May 13. Mikey coming out every week, selling like he’s Bret Hart on his third match of the night is a thing of beauty. Mikey tries to forfeit the belt to Hughes, but Hughes wants to have some fun, and decks him instead of accepting it. Hughes knocks him around, and hits the scrapbuster, but lets off at two, wanting to deliver more punishment. Hughes with a uranage, but no cover, drawing a warning from the referee. Hughes responds with another uranage, and he’s ready to get the pin, but the referee disqualifies him at 2:12 for not heeding the earlier warning. DUD
Paul E Dangerously isn’t scared of Cactus Jack - or anyone in WCW - because he’s got Sabu, who is more dangerous than anyone. Very strong promo from Paul here
BUExperience: This was okay. Cactus coming in is a huge get, and a better fit than Arn Anderson or Bobby Eaton (as much as I may love them), and the rest of the storylines are strong going toward Hostile City Showdown.
