WWF Mania (September 11, 1993)

Original Airdate: September 11, 1993

Your Hosts are Todd Pettengill and Randy Savage from the studio, with Savage furious that Todd lost his hat last week

Bam Bam Bigelow v Phil Apollo: From Wrestling Challenge on September 5 (taped August 18) in Lowell Massachusetts. Bigelow with a flying headbutt drop at 2:31, with a nice camera angle to accentuate it. DUD

Back in the studio, the guy Todd blamed for the lost hat has been knocked out by the Macho Man, but still no hat, so he turns his rage back on Pettengill. Randy is playing this like he’s auditioning for Goodfellas, and it’s great

Undertaker warns children about the dangers of drugs

The Steiner Brothers v Brooklyn Brawler and Fred Williams: From Superstars on September 4 (taped August 17) in White Plains New York. The WWF Tag Team title is not on the line here. It’s interesting that they took the belts off of them shortly after this (in a match they’re already hyping here), thus making all the champions in the promotion heels. That’s just very odd booking for the WWF in that period. But then the Shawn Michaels suspension happened, and they got the Intercontinental belt on Razor, at least. The Brothers with a combo at 2:32. ¼*

WWF Unbelievable ad

Todd hypes Radio WWF, where you can hear ‘all the dirt.’ This was right around the period where Savage was tearing into Hulk Hogan, wasn’t it?

A look at the ‘Japanese propaganda’ interpretation of the Yokozuna/Lex Luger feud

Jim Cornette reminds Luger that the contract said ‘no rematch.’ Of course, he says it in about 10,000 more words than that, the verbose bastard

Vince McMahon catches up with Luger in a pre-taped interview, looking to get Lex’s thoughts about SummerSlam. Why is Luger wearing a huge smile, and doing a ‘thank you’ promo? The fans were so great! The pay per view viewers were so great! The atmosphere? It was electric! It was a thrill! You didn’t win the belt, shut up!

Irwin R. Schyster v Jerry Seavey: From the September 5 episode of Wrestling Challenge. IRS at 2:07. I don’t dislike the IRS character or Mike Rotundo, but unless he has an angle to sink his teeth into, he’s the most boring motherfucker alive. DUD

Savage has made his way to his gear closet, where he’s searching for a suitable hat, since his is still missing

Razor Ramon v Reno Riggins: From the September 4 episode of Superstars. Ramon’s got some pretty noticeable back hair this week, which is surprising. Even at his worst periods personally, he always made sure to look impeccable on TV. Razor’s Edge finishes at 2:05. DUD

Ludvig Borga vignette. This character was interesting, it’s just too bad that he wasn’t interesting enough in the ring

Adam Bomb v Bob Evans: From the September 5 episode of Wrestling Challenge. Bomb with a flying clothesline at 2:03. DUD

WrestleMania music video

Jerry Lawler is in the studio for a solo episode of the King’s Court, where he gives his side of what happened at SummerSlam

BUExperience: Savage channeling Joe Pesci was fun. The rest, eh.
