WWF Superstars (November 19, 1994)

Original Airdate: November 19, 1994 (taped October 18)

From Burlington, Vermont; Your Hosts are Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler

Undertaker v Jim Neidhart: Vince notes that Undertaker has only ever lost one casket match, that being the one to Yokozuna at the Royal Rumble. Yeah, but that was, like, the second ever casket match (on TV, at least). He’s 50/50. Jim refuses to get inside, so Undertaker chases him in. Jim tries capitalizing on the high ground, but it goes badly, and Undertaker chokes him in the corner. Undertaker delivers a ropewalk forearm, but Jim comes back with a clothesline, only for Undertaker to sit up. Jim tries an axehandle, but Undertaker blocks, so Neidhart delivers a powerslam for two. Jim hammers away, and a vertical suplex gets him two. Neidhart with a facebuster, as Paul Bearer wheels a casket out, which is apparently motivation for Undertaker. Jim stays focused with a pair of elbowdrops, but Undertaker uses a big boot to send him to the outside - Neidhart landing in the casket. Jim gets so freaked out that he takes off up the aisle, and Undertaker gets the countout at 6:05. I love how Howard Finkel announces ‘countout’ in such a limp dick sort of way. That’s why he was the best. ¼*

Irwin R Schyster is back at the cemetery, and he’s not stopping with the casket he repossessed last week! There are more debts to be paid, in the form of the burial plot itself. This whole angle has been really fun, and it was actually going somewhere, too

Adam Bomb v Reno Riggins: Why is Bomb having to out wrestle and out move his jobber? He’s a huge dude, he shouldn’t be fighting from underneath, he should be squashing this guy like Diesel or Sid would. Especially in this promotion. Bomb with a flying clothesline and a pumphandle-slam at 2:20. ¼*

Live Event News is Charlie Minn previewing the casket match between Undertaker and Yokozuna at Survivor Series

Backstage, Jeff Jarrett is warming up

Jeff Jarrett v Mike Bell: Finkel and the timekeeper appear to be engaged in a very deep conversation in the background. It’s always fun when you notice stuff like that. Like, they were probably sick of seeing nonstop squash matches, and just shooting the shit. Jarrett with the figure four at 2:44. ¼*

Todd Pettengill is in the studio for the Survivor Series Report. It’s so charming to hear them talk about how it’s the eighth edition, as if it’s a long standing institution. Which it was at the time (their second oldest event), but here in a time when they’re celebrating thirtieth anniversaries of stuff that happened at various Survivor Series events, it just makes you smile

Razor Ramon v Nick Barberri: The WWF Intercontinental title is not on the line here. Razor’s got the good textured gear this week. Those were usually pay per view exclusives. Meanwhile, Lawler compares Barberri to ‘Kramer,’ which I imagine must have confused McMahon something fierce. The Razor’s Edge finishes at 3:00. Ramon’s squashes were always so lazy. Literally the same exact match every single time. DUD

WWF Tag Team Champions Shawn Michaels and Diesel host the Heartbreak Hotel, with guests WWF Champion Bret Hart and Davey Boy Smith. This one was taped on November 8 in Bushkill Pennsylvania, which they openly acknowledge. But before Bret can answer the first question, Bob Backlund and Owen Hart show up to cut their own promo. Watching this, you’d never guess that, from this mass of humanity in the ring, the guy standing in the background, trying to look cool, would end up as world champion a week later

King Kong Bundy v Ben Jordan: We get a fan doing the ring announcing for this one. Bundy with the avalanche for the five count at 0:58. DUD

Live Event News is a look at Luna Vachon’s wedding. Such an odd thing for them to acknowledge. And the wedding itself is even odder

Backstage, Vince and Jerry find Undertaker’s casket, which apparently is very cold. Good to know

BUExperience: Really nothing of consequence, but an easy watch.
