WWF Superstars (November 26, 1994)

Original Airdate: November 26, 1994 (taped November 8)

From Bushkill, Pennsylvania; Your Hosts are Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler

Men on a Mission v Barry Hardy and Duane Gill: This is Mo’s return to TV for the first time since May, having been out with an injury. Apparently, they ran this building for two tapings two days in a row, which is pretty crazy for this promotion. It’s also a total dive. Also, Bob Backlund is the new WWF Champion, and Vince is pretty sure that officially spells the end of the ‘New Generation.’ Men on a Mission with a combo at 4:05. DUD

Todd Pettengill is in the studio for the Survivor Series Report, and indeed, Bob Backlund walked out of Texas with the WWF Title. Bret Hart is out with an injury as a result of the time he spent in the crossface chickenwing, but President Jack Tunney has ruled that Diesel will take his place in the rematches. Backlund’s promo here is absolutely brilliant, and while I get wanting to move the title to Diesel quickly, I kind of wish Bob got more of a run. Meanwhile, Diesel’s promo sounds like he’s reading copy from a Trump rally

Davey Boy Smith v Bam Bam Bigelow: Bam Bam unloads at the bell, and a cross corner whip allows a clothesline on the rebound. Again, but this time Bulldog rebounds with a clothesline of his own for two, and he gets an armbar on. Bigelow gets into the ropes, and he rakes the eyes to allow a headbutt. Backdrop, but Bulldog leapfrogs, and throws a dropkick. Back to the armbar, but Bigelow escapes, and he dumps Davey over the top. Ted DiBiase tries to buy him off out there, but it goes nowhere, so Bam Bam brings him back in with a vertical suplex for two. Another suplex, but Bulldog blocks this time. That allows him a bodyslam, but DiBiase sweeps his ankle from the floor, and the referee calls for the DQ at 3:12. Oh man, so weak. And they couldn’t give them even five minutes? The stupid Men on a Mission squash got more time! ½*

Live Event News is a look at the now-wrapped Hart Attack Tour. And they’re still pushing that stupid inflatable Undertaker! Let it go already!

Kwang v Ben Jordan: A fan does the guest ring announcing here. Jordan may be a confirmed jobber, but that mullet is main event. Kwang with a spinkick at 1:11. DUD

Bob Holly v Dave D'Amaglio: Once again, Holly is in black and white gear this week. I’m surprised no one gave him a note about it, it’s just so bland for this era. Holly with a dive at 2:14. DUD

Henry Godwinn vignette

The Heavenly Bodies v Marty Garner and Tyrone Knox: Lawler reacting to Henry Godwinn is great, as is Vince baiting him by noting that Henry is ‘probably from Tennessee.’ “He’s from Arkansas,” Jerry bitterly shoots back. The Bodies with a combo at 2:20. Vince taking shots at the Bodies for looking fat is more goodness from him this week. ¼*

Survivor Series Encore ad

Aldo Montoya v Reno Riggins: I actually thought Montoya was cool when I was nine, God help me. Aldo with a springboard at 1:29. DUD

Live Event News is a look at the feud between WWF Women’s Champion Bull Nakano and Alundra Blayze. I like how they use clips from SummerSlam to highlight Bull recently winning the title in Japan

Irwin R Schyster visits another cemetery, and after weeks of this, he’s finally revealed his real target: Undertaker. Who is, apparently, a tax cheat. Let’s see where it goes

BUExperience: You’d think, with all the big developments coming out of Survivor Series, this would be a pretty interesting episode, but you’d be wrong. The feature match was particularly frustrating, basically a joke.
