Original Airdate: October 9, 1993
Your Hosts are Todd Pettengill and Randy Savage from the studio. Todd’s gimmick this week is that he’s contemplating retirement (while wearing a Chicago Bulls jacket)
The Headshrinkers v Virgil and Red Tyler: From the October 3 episode of Wrestling Challenge (taped September 1) in Saginaw Michigan. They do a great job of getting the Intercontinental title battle royal over here, and I’m impressed that they don’t make it obvious who is going to win in their pushes here. An interesting squash here, with the enhancement team getting some combos and shine, and then Virgil getting knocked out by stereo superkicks, and playing dead on the mat as the Headshrinkers get to properly squash Tyler. They put Tyler away at 4:26. ½*
From Wrestling Challenge, Jerry Lawler hosts the King’s Court with guest Doink the Clown, when Doink pours a bucket of water over his head to turn himself babyface. Unfortunately
From Superstars, as Doink comes out after a Bam Bam Bigelow squash, and throws water at Bam Bam and Luna Vachon
Well Dunn v Kevin Krueger and Mitch Bishop: From the October 3 episode of Wrestling Challenge. Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan were not a particularly good combination, but they were a better pairing than they get credit for. Well Dunn put this away at 2:21. DUD
20-Man #1 Contender's Battle Royal: From Monday Night RAW on October 4 (taped September 27) in New Haven Connecticut. The last two men standing battle for the vacant Intercontinental Title next week. We've got: Razor Ramon, Rick Martel, Irwin R. Schyster, Diesel, Tatanka, Mabel, MVP, Bastion Booger, Marty Jannetty, Mr. Perfect, 1-2-3 Kid, Randy Savage, Adam Bomb, Jacques, Pierre, Bob Backlund, Jimmy Snuka, Owen Hart, Giant Gonzalez, and Bam Bam Bigelow. Everyone gangs up on Gonzalez for a quick elimination, and the usual punch-kick battle royal picks up from there until we get down to Ramon, Martel, and The Quebecers. The three Canadian heels gang up, but Razor stops short to dodge a triple-team dropkick, and unloads on everyone. He gets overwhelmed and triple-teamed, but the heels get arrogant, and Pierre ends up accidentally clotheslining Jacques out. Ramon takes advantage of the miscommunication and tosses Pierre as well, and that leaves him and Martel as co-winners at 21:40. Way too long, and why the fuck did they go with Martel? He was so far removed from relevancy at this point anyway. Why not just go with IRS, since they'd been building to a match with Ramon, and there was no reason to bleed that dull feud all the way out to the Royal Rumble. Or better yet, why not do Ramon/Savage, and let Randy put him over big to kick off the title run. It's not like Vince had bigger plans for Macho and needed to protect him, anyway. ½*
BUExperience: Not the best outing this week, but at least there was lots to cover.
