NWA (ECW) Eastern Championship Wrestling (December 7, 1993)

Original Airdate: December 7, 1993

Your Host is Matty in the House from the studio

Mr Hughes v Mike Norman: From Philadelphia Pennsylvania on December 4 1993. Norman’s gear is trying to be too many things at once, and none of them are working. Only Randy Savage can get away with that kind of thing. Hughes throws a dropkick, as Joey Styles throws out a weird (and vaguely homophobic) challenge to Johnny B Badd to come down to face Hughes. Yeah, I’m sure he’ll get right on that. Hughes with a scrapbuster at 2:30. DUD

Sabu/Terry Funk feud review video package

Paul E Dangerously promises to ruin Terry Funk’s Christmas. And maybe his Hanukkah too

Johnny Hotbody v JT Smith: Also from Philly on December 4. Smith dominates early on, and sends Hotbody to the outside, and Smith delivers a suplex for two on the way back inside. Hotbody hides out in the ropes, and manages to turn that into clipping Smith’s leg, which is enough to turn the tide. Hotbody works the knee, and a suplex gets him two. Snapmare sets up a mat-based abdominal stretch, and he dumps Smith to the outside. Hotbody dives after him with an elbowdrop from the apron, and he delivers a ridiculously weak chair shot to the knee out there. That was embarrassing. Hotbody with a flying legdrop on the knee as they head back inside, and he applies a spinning toehold, but Smith fights free. He dumps Hotbody to the outside for a dive of his own, and he tries a sunset bomb on the way back in, but they badly botch it. They stagger up for a double knockout spot, and Hotbody gets the better of things. Hotbody vertical superplexes him, but he fails to cover, so Hunter Q Robbins tries helping with a cheap shot to move things along - only to hit Johnny my mistake, which allows JT the pin at 10:55. ½*

#1 Contender's Match: Ian Rotten and Axl Rotten v Tazmaniac and Kevin Sullivan: Also from Philly on December 4. Sullivan beats up Smith on his way to the ring, because he crazy. Meanwhile, Tazmaniac sneaks in with a superplex on Ian for the quick pin at 0:09, as Joey takes shots at Gorilla Monsoon. You’re on thin ice, pal. Thin. Ice. DUD

Jimmy Snuka let the dogs out. Well, glad we finally solved that mystery

Lumberjack v Mr X: From Philly on December 4. Lumberjack with a heart punch at 0:36. Really bringing the workrate tonight. I’m so glad we had this kind of stuff as an alternative to those boring old duds in the WWF and WCW at the time. DUD

Rockin’ Rebel music video. Would it have killed them to use, I dunno, rock music? I’m guessing this was a case of whatever music was originally used getting replaced on the Network version, but shut up, let me have this

Joey Styles brings Shane Douglas out, and Sherri is out of town this week, so Woman hits the ring to present

Public Enemy are ready to kill Badd Company

BUExperience: This show is borderline unwatchable. Thank goodness it’s only an hour long
