NWA (ECW) Eastern Championship Wrestling (December 14, 1993)

Original Airdate: December 14, 1993

Your Host is Joey Styles from the studio

Salvatore Bellomo v Don E Allen: From Philadelphia Pennsylvania on December 4 1993. Bellomo throws teddy bears out to the crowd, and the jaded ECW fans are actually super into it. What a weird group they were. Bellomo with a splash at 3:14. DUD

Matty in the House talks about the Body Count match. One thing ECW was great at was coming up with intriguing sounding match names

JT Smith is sick of getting beat up by everyone. Well, maybe stop sucking, then

ECW Tag Team Title Match: Tommy Dreamer and Shane Douglas v Kevin Sullivan and Tazmaniac: Also from Philly on December 4. Shane is subbing for Johnny Gunn here, who is supposedly 'stranded in Puerto Rico.' Sullivan attacks Dreamer to get us going, and takes him right into the heel corner for a double team, but Tommy fights them both off. He drops an elbow on Tazmaniac, and a vertical suplex sets up some mounted punches. Kind of weird to me that apparently the ECW fans thought of Dreamer as a ‘pretty boy’ they couldn’t get behind before the Sandman angle, yet had no problem accepting Shane Douglas as a badass. Dreamer runs into a boot while charging Sullivan to turn the tide, and the challengers work him over. Shane gets the hot tag, but promptly turns on Dreamer - knocking him out with a loaded fist to allow Tazmaniac the pin at 4:04. Afterwards, Shane joins the new champs for a beatdown, just for the hell of it. ½*

Terry Funk comes out, and he’s looking for some buds. Like, as in friends, not weed. And he gets some in the form of Bad Breed. Funk is a great promo, so this works

Video package highlighting the Funk/Sabu feud

Paul E Dangerously talks about how incredible Sabu is. Well, it’s nice that someone thinks so

Jimmy Snuka wants to know what we’re going to do about it? “Not much” - Pennsylvania PD

Sandman v Tony Stetson: From the same December 4 taping in Philly. Tony attacks before the bell, but Sandman fights him off, and works a chinlock. Sandman looks really weird this week, I didn't recognize him at first. Sandman with a bodyslam and a flying backelbow for two, and a Samoan drop is worth two. Stetson bails, and manages to sweep Sandman out of the ring, where Tony sends him into the post. Tony with a suplex back into the ring, and a bodyslam sets up a flying legdrop for two. Stetson with mounted punches, and a powerbomb gets another two, but Sandman suddenly comes back with a cradle at 3:56. ½*

We get clips of a big brawl between most of the locker room, taped some time after December 4, but the date of which is unknown. Not much to it, just a chaotic brawl

BUExperience: How did this promotion make it until 2001?
