WWF Superstars of Wrestling (April 2, 1988)

Original Airdate: April 2, 1988 (taped March 9)

From Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Your Hosts are Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura

We open with clips of Randy Savage’s four wins at WrestleMania IV, which crowned him as the new WWF Champion

Rick Rude v Eric Cooper: Bobby Heenan split screens in here, promising that next week, Rude will start picking one girl from the crowd to kiss, so they’d better get themselves ready. Rude with the neckbreaker at 1:48. DUD

Gene Okerlund is in the studio with Update, and the issue is not settled between Ultimate Warrior and Hercules after WrestleMania. And we get some promos from each guy, taped backstage at WrestleMania

Okerlund is backstage at WrestleMania IV for the WrestleMania IV Report, giving us the major results from Atlantic City

Don Muraco v George Petraski: Vanna White split screens in here, noting that she had a great time at WrestleMania, and it was almost as good as Wheel of Fortune. What a different era it was, with the announcers openly discussing having sex with her. Not just wanting to, but Jesse basically full on saying he did. Muraco with a tombstone at 1:47. DUD

Craig DeGeorge brings the Bolsheviks out to sing the Soviet national anthem, in honor of the Soviet Olympic team

Bad News Brown v Phil Newkirk: Bret Hart split screens in, swearing revenge on Brown for what happened in the battle royal at WrestleMania. Brown with an enzuigiri at 2:08. DUD

Bam Bam Bigelow v Uno: Bob Uecker split screens in, claiming that WrestleMania IV was the best thing that ever happened to him. Bam Bam with a slingshot splash at 1:24. DUD

Demolition celebrate their new WWF Tag Team title, while Strike Force vow to get the gold back

Andre the Giant v Brian Costello: Andre wrecks the dork before the bell even rings, dumping him to the outside, and leaving him for dead. That draws Jim Duggan out to get in his face (or, well, his chest), and he challenges the Giant to a match. Andre responds by choking him out, and he throttles Hacksaw so badly that Jim just starts pouring blood out of his mouth. Duggan manages to fight him off with the 2x4, but he’s badly battered. Good segment.

Ted DiBiase thinks the only reason Randy Savage won the title is because he had a lot of outside help. But, next time it will be different

WWF Champion Randy Savage is proud to be the new leader of the WWF

BUExperience: They did a good job of highlighting WrestleMania and setting up new stuff, even if this was technically taped before WrestleMania.
