WWF Royal Rumble Countdown Show (January 19, 1991)

Original Airdate: January 19, 1991

Your Host is Sean Mooney from the control center

Mooney runs down the card to start, complete with rules for the Royal Rumble match itself

Recently, Sgt. Slaughter unveiled a pair of boots gifted to him by Saddam Hussein himself, which he will wear in his WWF Title match against Ultimate Warrior tonight

Mooney reads a ‘special bulletin’ from President Jack Tunney, who immediately distances himself (and the promotion, by extension) from some of the rhetoric by Slaughter as of late. Likely in response to the start of Operation Desert Storm two days before this

Earlier today on the Brother Love Show, Slaughter promised victory tonight

WWF Champion Ultimate Warrior makes his last stand, surrounded by his warriors. He’s the only one there, though. And about as mentally stable as Travis Bickle, honestly

Ted DiBiase/Rhodes family feud review

Dusty and Dustin Rhodes are ready to take care of business tonight. Dustin is really overdoing it with the accent here. Also, he looks like a statue of a young Dusty (as done by a very generous artist)

Big Boss Man/Heenan Family feud review

Barbarian and Bobby Heenan promise to hurt Boss Man tonight

Boss Man is looking forward. And twirling, twirling, all the while

Hulk Hogan is ready to rumble

WWF Intercontinental Champion Mr. Perfect is walking in a champion, and ready to walk out a winner

Earthquake is ready to rumble and/or piss

Undertaker (still with Brother Love) growls. They really still hadn’t nailed down the character yet here

Smash… actually gets an individual promo? I get that Ax was gone by this point, but where was Crush? Why even bother with Smash on his own?

Jim Duggan is ready to be the Florida Man

Rick Martel speaks foreign

Hawk also gets an individual promo. Were guys too busy shitting, or something?

Jake Roberts only cares about the luck of the draw in that he’d better draw a number close to Rick Martel

Randy Savage is full of madness. And drugs, by the looks of him

BUExperience: A good lead in. Nothing more, but nothing less either.
