WWF Survivor Series Countdown Show (November 27, 1991)

Original Airdate: November 27, 1991

Your Host is Sean Mooney from the control center

We start with Sean running down the card, and it’s interesting to hear them openly hint that Randy Savage might replace Sid Justice, when they’d announce that both men are not appearing literally at the top of the actual pay per view broadcast

WWF Champion Hulk Hogan/Undertaker feud video review

Mooney once again mentions that Savage might be wrestling at Survivor Series, before throwing to footage of the infamous snake bite angle with Jake Roberts. This is still one of the most insane things to ever happen in the world of professional wrestling. And that covers a lot of ground

Big Boss Man and WWF Tag Team Champions The Legion of Doom are campaigning for Savage to join their team

Jake Roberts, Irwin R Schyster, and the Natural Disasters are perfectly fine with having a handicap match

Clips of Bobby Heenan bringing the NWA World title belt to the Funeral Parlor, which infuriates Roddy Piper, who stops by to clarify that Hulk Hogan is the only world champion. I get all the reasons, I do, but how in the hell did Hogan/Flair not end up as the main event of WrestleMania VIII?

The next week, Ric Flair comes out to have a match, but stops at the broadcast booth to slap Piper around, in response to Roddy going after Heenan. Roddy gets in his face, but Flair fires off a cheap shot, and delivers a beating. A blinded Piper grabs a chair to retaliate, but ends up laying out Vince McMahon by mistake, in what may be the first time Vince took a bump

Roddy Piper, WWF Intercontinental Champion Bret Hart, Davey Boy Smith, and Virgil are ready to survive

Ric Flair, Ted DiBiase, Mountie, Warlord, Mr. Perfect, and Mr. Perfect’s tracksuit retort

Over the weekend, the Nasty Boys were attacking Jim Duggan, but Sgt. Slaughter made the save, to turn himself babyface

Mooney runs down the card again to close

BUExperience: This was fine. I liked how much darker and adult a lot of the angles were during this period, before regressing again in 1992.
