Goody Bag VI: Blayze of Glory

Alundra Blayze v Bull Nakano: From a WWF card in Yokohama Japan, May 7 1994. Alundra is the WWF Women's Champion here, but this is non-title. Alundra comes right at her with fiery right hands, and a rana puts Bull down for two. Test-of-strength doesn't go as well, however, and Nakano bodyslams her - only to get dropkicked over the top rope to the floor from the middle turnbuckle as she tries a follow-up! Blayze dives after her with a flying bodypress, and back in Alundra cradles her for two, but gets reversed for two. Nakano keeps after her with a scorpion crosslock, and a camel clutch, but Alundra keeps slugging back, and gets her in a Boston crab - Bull making the ropes to escape. Alundra with a flurry of kicks, but Nakano blasts her with a clothesline, and adds a vertical suplex for two. Chinlock, but Blayze reverses, then shifts down into a bodyscissors. Nakano escapes and tries an anklelock, but Alundra won't quit, so she hits a legdrop instead for two. Blayze tries a crucifix, but Bull's in the ropes, so Alundra throws a spinkick for two. A sloppy DDT gets two, but Nakano cuts her right back down with another clothesline, then adds a kneeling powerbomb for two. Bull uses a random pair of nunchucks (in full view of the referee, no less) to setup another kneeling powerbomb for two, but Blayze brings her down off the top with a vertical superplex for two. Bridging northern lights suplex gets two, but Bull again is ready with a clothesline to end the effort, and a bodyslam sets up a flying legdrop at 9:45. A bit restholdy in the middle, but the high spots were the usual well executed goodness from these two. ** ¾

WWF Women's Title Match: Alundra Blayze v Bull Nakano: From the next night in Osaka Japan. Alundra gets cocky, and that doesn't end well for her, so she throws a dropkick to knock Nakano down. That lasts for all of a second, so Blayze uses a kick combo to put her down again, this time for two. Test-of-strength goes Nakano's way, but Blayze counters into a bridging northern lights suplex for two. Bull responds with a nasty hiptoss (you know they're feeling it when they're bringing that kind of energy to fucking HIPTOSSES), then grounds the champion in a sleeper. Blayze gets the ropes, so Bull uses a legdrop for two, then adds a 2nd rope facebuster. Again, but this time Alundra kicks her down - Bull bumping to the floor, and Blayze diving after her with a plancha! Right back in, Alundra uses a spinkick for two, and she grounds her challenger with a chinlock. Nakano makes the ropes to escape, so Alundra starts pelting her with kicks again, and an earringer sets up a pair of kneelifts. Bull responds by blowing her down with a clothesline, and a vertical suplex follows for two. Scorpion crosslock grinds Blayze, and Bull pounds on the back in the corner, then mat-slams her for two. She brings a pair of nunchucks in to wail on Blayze until Alundra bails, but Nakano is right after her - sending her into the post a couple of times. That actually leaves Blayze busted open, but Nakano shows no mercy with a piledriver for two. I wonder if that was hardway? Either that, or they went off script, because I can't imagine them booking a full crimson mask from a woman in 1994. Hell, even the men weren't blading. Blayze manages a rana for two, but Bull quickly cuts her off. Backdrop, but Alundra counters with a sunset flip for two, and now Nakano is getting annoyed. She corner whips Blayze and follows in with a clothesline, then slams Alundra down off the top. Suplex, but Blayze counters with a bridging German suplex for two. Victory cradle gets two, and an ugly powerbomb is worth two. Not well executed, but it fit well into the story of the match, as the bloody Blayze does whatever she can muster against the bigger Bull. Alundra tries a 2nd rope flying splash, but ends up slipping off the ropes, and face planting. Ouch. Nakano is right on her with a bodyslam to setup the flying legdrop, but Alundra dodges, and hits a bridging German suplex to retain at 12:32. This was pretty wild stuff here, and managed to be completely different than the match the night before, to boot. *** ¾

WWF Women's Title Match: Alundra Blayze v Bull Nakano: From a house show at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island New York, on August 26 1994 (a couple of days before SummerSlam). Blayze wants a handshake to start, but Bull responds by pounding her down. Powerbomb, but Alundra escapes, and starts throwing dropkicks, so Nakano starts whipping her around the ring by the hair. Legdrop gets two, and Bull grounds her with a chinlock, but Alundra gets the ropes. Bull dumps her to the outside for Luna Vachon to abuse, but Blayze reverses a whip into the post, so Nakano goes out to deal with her herself. Back in, Bull piledrives her for two, but Blayze manages a rana for two. Spinkick hits, but a second misses, and Nakano chokeslams her for two - complete with arrogant cover! Boston crab can't garner a submission, so Nakano tries slugging her instead, but Blayze schoolgirls her for two. That just serves to piss Bull off, however, and she punishes her with the scorpion crosslock. Hey, mess with the bull, you get the horns. Clothesline gets two, but Alundra fights back with a series of three running mat-slams - only to have a piledriver countered with a backdrop. Nakano adds a pair of kneedrops, and a bodyslam follows for two. Cross corner whip, but Alundra dodges a follow-up charge, and hooks a schoolgirl for two. Rana, but Nakano counters with a kneeling powerbomb for two, and another bodyslam sets up a flying legdrop, but Blayze dodges. German suplex, but Bull blocks, and she clobbers her with a clothesline! Irish whip, but Alundra ducks a clothesline, and hooks the bridging German suplex to retain at 9:20. Some more good stuff, especially towards the end, but kind of lackluster overall. ** ½

WWF Women's Title Match: Alundra Blayze v Bull Nakano: From the Big Egg Wrestling Universe card on November 20 1994 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. Blayze does a cool entrance, where she's driven out to the ring on a motorcycle, along with a bunch of other cycles riding along. Bull tries to use her size to corner her, but Alundra slugs back with kicks - only to miss an enzuigiri. Nakano wastes no time capitalizing with a pair of hairtoss slams, and a chokeslam sets up a legdrop for two. Clothesline gets two, and she grounds Blayze in an anklelock. Blayze won't give, so Nakano shifts to a kneebar, then into a Mexican surfboard to punish her. Alundra dodges her in the corner and goes up, but Bull slams her off, then creams her with a piledriver for two. Chinlock, but Alundra tries escaping, so Bull delivers a vertical suplex for two, then takes her right back to the mat in the chinlock again. Blayze gets the ropes, so Bull bodyslams her for two, but Alundra comes back with a series of three running mat-slams for two. Piledriver, but Nakano counters with a whiplash, and wears the champion down with the scorpion crosslock. 2nd rope kneeling bulldog gets two, and a nasty elevated DDT gets two. An equally nasty implant DDT is worth two, but a flying seated senton splash misses, and Blayze hits a bridging German suplex for two. She tries a 2nd rope leg lariat, and a series of kicks setup a standing moonsault for two. Bull shuts her down again with a Russian legsweep, and a back-to-belly piledriver follows. That kills Alundra dead, but Bull makes sure - polishing her off with a flying legdrop for the title at 9:28. Some really brutal and hard hitting moves, but it felt a bit rushed, overall. *** ½
