Original Airdate: October 24, 1987 (taped October 6)
From Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Your Hosts are Vince McMahon, Bruno Sammartino, and Jesse Ventura
Honky Tonk Man v George Steele: Honky's WWF Intercontinental title is not on the line. Too right! Steele was not remotely deserving of a shot by this point. Steele knocks him around for a bit, so Jimmy Hart trips him up. That sets Steele after him, but that allows Honky to get the megaphone. He bashes Steele with it behind the referee’s back, but then George steals the weapon and returns fire in full view of the official to draw a DQ at 1:30. DUD
Craig DeGeorge is in the studio for Update, with a look at the Heenan Family’s road to Survivor Series
Rick Rude v Mike Richards: Bobby Heenan brings Andre the Giant out to watch Rude’s back here. Paul Orndorff still comes out to pose at them, though. Rude with a backbreaker rack at 1:27. DUD
Gene Okerlund catches up with WWF Intercontinental Champion Honky Tonk Man, who is going to beat Randy Savage, day or night
The Glamour Girls are sexy, glamorous, and beautiful. It’s like ‘three lies and a truth,’ but with all lies
Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo music video, with Mean Gene!
Okerlund catches up with Strike Force, who are looking forward to stepping into the ring with the Islanders - this time, with two referees to make sure there’s no funny business. Gorilla would be so proud
The Young Stallions are excited to be in the ‘Survival’ Series, especially since the WWF Magazine says that they’re better than the Hart Foundation. Yeah, well, it says a lot of things in there
The British Bulldogs v Steve Lombardi and Jose Estrada: Bruno continues to bring it on commentary, with one word answers to questions that aren’t even posed to him. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs split screen in, excited to bring Matilda to Survivor Series. Well, at least they know the correct name of the show they’re bringing her to. Bulldogs at 3:37. DUD
DeGeorge brings the heel managers (Heenan, Jimmy Hart, Mr. Fuji, Slick, and Johnny Valiant) out to talk about Survivor Series
Harley Race v Frankie DeFalco: Race split screens in, just as his full screen self is finishing up with a cradle suplex at 1:25. DUD
Jim Duggan v Tiger Chung Lee: Harley Race is hanging around at ringside following his own match, and Duggan gets in his face, wanting him to vacate the area. Harley refuses, so Jim nails him with the 2x4, and the crowd pops big for it. Crowds in this era were outstanding. Lee attacks from behind, but Duggan quickly fights him off with a backdrop, and delivers a kneedrop for two. Jim with a turnbuckle smash and a ten-punch count, and a bodyslam follows, as Race tries getting back to the ring area. Duggan with a three-point stance to finish at 1:03. Race pushes through the gang of referees to get back to the ring and confront Duggan, and he brings a chair in to try and counter the 2x4, but Duggan wins the exchange, and steals Harley’s crown and cape. DUD
Okerlund catches up with Randy Savage, who is so mad at Honky that he’s cosplaying as Cactus Jack
Danny Davis is excited for his first televised singles match, right here next week
BUExperience: Two segments here made it onto two separate Coliseum Videos, so I guess it’s a fairly notable episode. Not much to add beyond that, though.
