WWF Wrestling Challenge (October 18, 1987)

Original Airdate: October 18, 1987 (taped October 7)

From Green Bay, Wisconsin; Your Hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan

The British Bulldogs v Brian Costello and Rip Oliver: The New Dream Team split screen in here, as the Bulldogs wrap it up at 4:15. DUD

Craig DeGeorge is in the studio with Update, giving us a look at the devastating DDT of Jake Roberts

One Man Gang v Rick Gantner: Oliver Humperdink split screens in here, noting that Bam Bam Bigelow is a more impressive big man than Gang. His argument: Bam Bam is on the cover of the WWF Magazine. Seems impressive. Gang picks up the win at 2:22. DUD

Gene Okerlund catches up with Ken Patera and Billy Jack Haynes, who try to use math to prove that they’re going to take the tag title from the Hart Foundation. I think Humperdink with his magazine was more convincing

Jim Duggan v Barry Horowitz: Duggan split screens in here, and is really excited about Survivor Series, which, by the sound of things, he thinks is actually Thanksgiving dinner. I genuinely hope someone was able to clue him in in time. Duggan with the three-point stance at 1:40. Good energy from Hacksaw, if nothing else. ¼*

Okerlund catches up with Ted DiBiase, and how the hell did his ass not get a spot at Survivor Series?

Koko B. Ware introduces the Piledriver music video

DeGeorge brings Andre the Giant and Heenan out for a podium interview, so Bobby can keep selling Survivor Series for everyone. DeGeorge looks in awe of him. This wasn’t as strong a sell as the last one they did, but Andre’s gravitas helped

DeGeorge is in the control center for Special Report, with a look at the Honky Tonk Man/Randy Savage beef

Rick Rude and Hercules v Scott Casey and Jim Evans: WWF Women’s Champion Sensational Sherri replaces Heenan on commentary for this one. Rude gets the win with a backbreaker rack at 3:11. Heenan claiming that the divorce rate went up since Rude started posing on TV is wonderful heeling. DUD

Okerlund catches up with Andre and Bobby

BUExperience: Kind of a drag this week. Well, as much of a drag as any show from this period can be, anyway.
