NWA (JCP) World Championship Wrestling (June 14, 1986)

Original Airdate: June 14, 1986 (taped June 8)

From Atlanta, Georgia; Your Hosts are Tony Schiavone and David Crockett

Jimmy Valiant is out, and promises to make Paul Jones a bald headed geek

Arn Anderson and Ole Anderson v Lee Peek and Pablo Crenshaw: This is Ole’s first TV match for the promotion since December of ‘85. And Ole puts it away with an armbar at 4:51. A hell of an armbar, though. Afterwards, the Andersons swing by the desk, and Ole puts Dusty Rhodes on notice: the Horsemen are back, and he’s finished. Ole is an amazing promo. Plus, he looks and sounds just like the old man next door in Home Alone, so bonus points. DUD

Tully Blanchard v Kent Glover: The NWA National title is not up for grabs here. Blanchard with a floatover suplex at 3:49. DUD

Ron Garvin v Paul Garner: Tony is very impressed that Garvin threw his towel to a fan here. It’s not made of gold, dude. It’s a sweaty gym rag. Don’t lionize him. Garvin with a knockout punch at 4:15. DUD

Recently, on NWA Pro Wrestling, Dusty reacts to Ole’s return

Warlord v Brodie Chase: No face paint for Warlord yet, and this is his debut, with Baby Doll in his corner. He makes short work of Chase here, finishing with a slam at 0:47. DUD

Magnum TA swings by, and he’s still carrying around the NWA United States title. I bet he drives by his ex girlfriend's house every night, too

Baron von Raschke v Vernon Deaton: Jimmy Valiant is out to observe here, and sits in on commentary. Baron puts the glove on ahead of the claw at 2:51. Afterwards, Valiant tries to avenge Deaton, but gets his ass kicked like a hair covered geek. DUD

NWA World Champion Ric Flair is out to do some general boasting

Six-Man Tag Team Match: Nikita Koloff, Ivan Koloff, and Krusher Kruschev v George South, Rocky King, and Italian Stallion: Hey, haven’t seen Krusher in a while. And, in fact, this is his first match since January. Nikita with the Sickle and a cobra clutch at 6:02. Way too long. DUD

Baby Doll is out, and she’s not scared of getting in the ring with Jim Cornette, since he’s not a man anyway. That draws Jim out to get himself canceled, but Magnum shows up to make sure things don’t get out of hand

Barbarian and Shaska Whatley v Mark Hawk and Pat Myers: That’s one fat fucking jobber. Barbarian puts this away at 2:50. Afterwards, they swing by the desk, and Jones isn’t into the whole being bald thing. No word on the geek part. DUD

The Russians are out, and Krusher, still upset about losing the NWA Mid-Atlantic title back in January, wants revenge on the Road Warriors

The Rock 'n' Roll Express v Larry Clarke and Art Pritts: Ricky Morton is still sporting the face mask here. The Express with stereo dropkicks at 3:53. DUD

Tony and David are at the desk for the Great American Bash Update, and Magnum is out to surrender the US title to Jim Crockett, but Ivan protests, and steals the belt for Nikita. That draws Magnum back out, and he clocks Ivan with the belt, and gets it back to Jim

Jimmy Garvin v Tony Zane: I’m not the only one who mixes up Baby Doll and Precious, right? Garvin with a brainbuster at 1:34. Afterwards, Garvin swings by the desk to react to the news that he’ll be facing Wahoo McDaniel in a strap match at the Bash. DUD

Jim Cornette is back out to laugh about the contest to win a date with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express. No shortage of things to laugh about with that one, frankly

The Midnight Express v Sam Houston and Denny Brown: The NWA World Tag Team title is not on the line here. Man, Houston went from winning a title from Krusher in January to being a job guy for the Express by June. Dennis Condrey pins Sam at 4:20. This had some energy to it. ¼*

Tully Blanchard and JJ Dillon are out

Wahoo McDaniel v Thunderfoot: Wahoo with a big knife-edge chop at 2:44. Hell of a chop, give him that much. DUD

Paul Jones’ Army are back out to offer their thanks for Jim Crockett for giving them fresh meat at the Bash

BUExperience: Good episode this week. They’ve got a bunch of strong angles for the Bash shows, and it’s making for good TV.
