WWF Monday Night RAW (June 14, 1993)

Original Airdate: June 14, 1993 (Taped June 7)

From New York, New York; Your Hosts are Vince McMahon, Bobby Heenan, and Randy Savage.

Though this show is taped, we start with clips from the night before at King of the Ring, with Yokozuna defeating Hulk Hogan for the WWF Championship. Backstage at the pay per view, Mr. Fuji and the new champion promise a special victory celebration on July 4th.

Cute RAW Girl Sign of the Week: I Want My RAW

Opening Match: Mr. Perfect v LA Gore: Gore tries to get cute with a bit of a strut at the bell, but Perfect slaps on a side-headlock, and shoulderblocks him. Criss cross ends in Perfect dropkicking him, and Gore regroups out on the floor. Inside, Gore rakes the eyes to takeover, but a chopfest doesn't go his way, and Perfect hits the somersault necksnap. Kneelift, and the Perfect-Plex finish the jobber at 2:49. Even the announcers weren't paying attention to this one, spending the entirety of the match talking about nothing but Yokozuna winning the title. DUD

Vince McMahon brings Razor Ramon out for an in-ring interview, and the Bad Guy has got an entire back full of cash for the 1-2-3 Kid ($10,000 worth) if he accepts the challenge for a re-match. Fuck, Razor, don't seem so eager. No wonder he got you from $2,500 to $10,000.

King of the Ring Replay Promo

Doink v Marty Jannetty: Doink refuses to allow Marty into the ring, so they brawl on the floor to start, and inside, Doink chops him. Marty dodges a cross corner charge and hits a sloppy 2nd rope bulldog for two, then armdrags the clown into an armbar. Criss cross ends in Doink leveling him with a shoulderblock, but Marty blocks a turnbuckle smash, and sweeps Doink for two. Back to the armbar, but Doink manages to toss him out to the floor to break the hold, so Marty comes in with a flying bodypress for two. Doink reverses an Irish whip into a powerslam, and he slaps on a crossface chickenwing to ground Jannetty. Side suplex, and Doink hooks an armbar of his own, then stomps the shoulder of the prone Jannetty. Bodyslam sets up the Whoopee Cushion for two, and he gets sadistic with a hangman's neckbreaker submission. 2nd rope axehandle, and Doink fires off a couple more boots to the shoulder, but gets slammed when he tries to go back to the top. Jumping backelbow and a dropkick set up a suplex for two, followed by a clothesline for two. Facebuster is worth two, but a bodyblock ends up sending both men tumbling out over the top, and it's a double countout at 10:50. Good stuff, right up until the ending. **

King of the Ring Replay Promo. Wow guys, calm down. You didn't push the initial airing this hard

Owen Hart v Dan Dubiel: Owen still has the goofy High Energy tights here. He trades hammerlocks with Dubiel (who looks just like Shane Douglas) in the early going, and armdrags him into an armbar, as the 1-2-3 Kid calls in 'from Japan' to accept Razor Ramon's challenge for next week. In the ring, Dubiel tries reversing the armbar, but Owen flip-flops his way out of it, and creams him with a spinheel kick. Missile dropkick hits, and the Northern lights suplex finishes at 3:45. Nothing, but it was nice to see them showcase Owen. DUD

The Undertaker v PJ Walker: This is actually from Superstars, but we get the full match. Not much of a match anyway, as Undertaker chokes him out in the corner, hits a big boot, a jumping clothesline, and a chokeslam at 1:08. But now, the real reason we're seeing this, as Giant Gonzalez and Mr. Hughes come down and attack, so that they can steal the urn from Paul Bearer.

Jerry Lawler v Mark Thomas: Lawler is dressed in pink-and-black here, which is just weird. Lawler slugs him into the corner, and hits a snapmare, as the crowd pelts him with 'Burger King' chants. Turnbuckle smash, and he hits a DDT, followed by a backdrop for two. Fistdrop, but he gets distracted by the chants, and Thomas backdrops him. Unfortunately for him, he tries it a second time, and takes the Piledriver at 3:50. DUD

BUExperience: I really can’t wait until they start going live with these post-PPV shows, because these non-committal, dubbed in commentary episodes are just brutal.
